Veterans Day Celebration
Sunday, November 14, 2021
Honoring our Veterans
We will be celebrating and acknowledging our veterans on
Sunday, November 14.
On that day, flags will be placed on the burial places of veterans in the Memorial Gardens.

The names of the veterans honored by the people of St. Francis will be listed in the bulletin.
Adult Formation @ 9:00 am on Sunday Mornings
Our adult formation series is focused on the Gospel of Mark. It will accompany our readings from Mark through Pentecost. Sessions begin at 9:00 am on Sundays. They start with prayer, follwed by introductions, the Gospel reading, teaching, questions and reflection.
Please join us in person or on Zoom (link is sent in the Sunday message from father Brendan.).
Sunday School for ages 4-10 at the 10:30 service
The young people will have class and then return to church during the Peace for the latter part of the church service. We will follow Covid precautions by asking all to wear a mask. We look forward to special times together.

If you would like your announcements to be included in this newsletter, or in the Sunday bulletin, please email them to the office at saintfranciswilsonville@gmail.com by Tuesday evening (7:30 pm). Please include a contact person within the announcement in case there are questions. Announcements will run for two weeks or until the event takes place.
New Parish Administrator: Jodi Laug. I am so excited to share that we have hired a new parish administrator, Jodi Laug. She starts on Monday, and she will work 10am – 3pm on Monday thru Friday. She lives in Tigard with her husband and two children, and she has worked as a legal assistant. In recent years, she has been a stay-at-home Mom and a softball coach. I never realized how similar softball teams are to churches. Please stop by and introduce yourselves to Jodi.
Christmas Flowers grace our worship space around the altar, and around the walls, in the entry, the narthex and in the windows. If you would like to honor loved ones or simply contribute funds for the beauty of the holiday, please look for contribution envelopes on Sundays in Advent, or request one from the office or Terri Hoffmann.
St. Francis Book Group on Zoom
The book group meets the 2nd and 4th Thursdays at 10:00 am on Zoom.
(no in person meetings at this time.)
We are currently reading Crazy Christians by Michael Curry.
GNI = Guys Nite Out !
Inviting: All St. Francis men to a “nite out” every second Thursday whenever the current Covid situation appears safe to do so.  
Next GNI: May be awhile. Watch for announcements.
Agenda: Good conversation; getting to know each other better; maybe solve all of the world’s problems.
Goal: Leave happy having had a good time.

Please bring food items to church by Sunday, November 14 or to the Church Office by Wednesday, November 17.

Large cans of Pumpkin Pie Filling

Threads of Love Sewing Ministry - Come Join Us!
Our next in-person sewing session will be Thursday, November 18th from 1 - 3pm in the Parish Hall. We will be making additional baby blanket kits and likely cutting squares for the pieced blanket tops. Please bring rotary cutters, scissors and mats. All are welcome to join us, even if you don’t sew - there is always lots of ironing and packaging to be done as well as great conversation.

Wilsonville Food Bank
They need peanut butter and storable fresh fruit such as apples and oranges. NO CEREAL, please. You can drop off your donations to the church. A volunteer takes the food to the Food Bank every Tuesday.

Knitters Alert!
We will again be knitting baby hats for the Salud Medical Clinic in Woodburn, to be given to newborns there (and to their older siblings)! The members of our Sewing Ministry have offered to make matching receiving blankets to go with some of the hats, so they could be given as a set. As you all knit the hats, please bring them to the church so the stitchers can make a matching little quilt. This is a lovely new idea. We have generous and talented folks in our knitting and sewing ministries!
We will be ingathering the baby hats, blankets, baby clothes and diapers when we celebrate Epiphany in January.
Covid 19 Safety Update
Bishop Akiyama has issued guidelines regarding worship in diocesan churches.
 
Masks are required during all church services, and while gathering in either the Narthex, or the Parish Hall.

Exchanging "The Peace" should be done from a distance rather than in the form of a hug or handshake.
 
We will no longer be distributing wine during communion.. We will only distribute wafers. (Just a reminder: receiving both the wine and the bread is not necessary. Taking either the bread or the wine constitutes complete communion.) We invite you to come to the altar rail to receive the consecrated bread. If you want only a blessing, please come to the altar rail and cross your arms across your chest and Fr. Brendan will bless you.
 
Indoor fellowship activities such as offee hour, bible studies, book groups, meetings, etc. will be moved outdoors, eliminated, or moved online, as appropriate. If moved outdoors, individuals should remain masked unless proper distance is provided between households.

Some activities may continue indoors. Masks and maintaining a safe distance from others, regardless of vaccination status, will be expected.
