Dear Students,

The following message includes updated links for students to complete self-reporting.

As we return from Thanksgiving break and prepare for the final days of the semester, the SUNY ESF COVID Response Team and Syracuse University’s Public Health Team remain focused on the health and wellness of our campus community and neighbors.

Over the holiday, news spread of a newly identified COVID variant (Omicron), the impact of which is currently being studied across the globe. We continue to closely monitor campus and local public health conditions, including issues and concerns related to this new variant. As we have from the onset of the pandemic, we are regularly assessing circumstances and recommending new action as appropriate to help promote the well-being of our students, faculty, staff, visitors, and neighbors.

Despite the low level of COVID transmission and infection within our campus community, we want to remind all to be vigilant. Please note that transmission continues to occur in off-campus social events and residences. During this holiday season, you can help protect your coworkers, classmates, families, and friends by staying away from others if you are symptomatic, and this includes not coming to campus.

Please consider taking advantage of the testing available at SU (www.syracuse.edu/staysafe/get-tested) immediately prior to holiday social engagements. If you have a suspected contact, you may also consult with ESF’s COVID-19 Coordinator for guidance on follow-up testing by completing a self-reporting form:

ESF will remain at the RED level of the masking framework, which requires wearing masks indoors at all times and outdoors when in the presence of others or in a group.

We will continue to communicate regularly with our community about what our data is showing and what, if any, new actions need to be taken. And, of course, we encourage our community to visit www.esf.edu/restart regularly for up-to-date information.

We look forward to finishing off this semester strong. We wish you the very best of luck as you prepare for finals and as we wrap up 2021.

Thank you,
SUNY ESF COVID Response Team
