Welcome President Chalee Engelhard PT, EdD 


The APTA Academy of Education is excited to welcome Chalee Engelhard PT, EdD as its newest president. Chalee officially began her term as president on July 1st. Dr. Engelhard is currently a tenured professor in the University of Cincinnati’s Department of Rehabilitation, Exercise, and Nutrition Sciences. Chalee earned her BHS in PT from the University of Kentucky; an MBA from Thomas More University and an EdD from the University of Cincinnati. She is also a graduate of the Fellowship in Higher Education. In her spare time, Chalee enjoys spending time with her family, playing tennis and gardening.

CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS

WEBINAR COMMITTEE

Call for Members on the newly developing Webinar Series Planning Committee. Members of this committee will meet regularly to achieve the ongoing implementation of the new Academy Webinar Series. Each member will be responsible for the implementation of one of the seven planned webinars over the course of the academic year as well as the assessing the effectiveness of programming strategies. Three 2-year appointments and two 1-year appointments are available to help get a rotation of committee members with positions starting as soon as possible.


Please submit applications via the Academy's Volunteer Portal by July 23.

Join us for a free, two-day virtual symposium on September 12th and 16th to learn more about the current landscape of RF education and generate project ideas that move the needle on RF research.  


Residency and fellowship (RF) education has grown exponentially in the physical therapy profession. Generating high impact research to support excellence and value in RF education is now critical to future growth. This inaugural Residency Fellowship Research Symposium, hosted by the Residency Fellowship Research Collaborative, is your opportunity to participate in discussions about the current landscape and future directions of RF research, network and collaborate with other individuals interested in RF research, and contribute to high impact, innovative research on residency and fellowship education.

NEW ADMISSIONS NETWORK

First Event July 10th at 7 PM ET


The Admissions Network was recently created within the Academic Faculty SIG with the purpose of fostering discussion topics related to recruitment and holistic admissions in PT and PTA education. There will be an opportunity to network, share research and case studies, ask pertinent questions, and disseminate resources.


The first virtual event will be Monday July 10th at 7pm EST. There will be an introduction to the Network, brief announcements, a presentation, and Q&A/discussion.


Andrea Bowens, PT DPT PhD from Samford University will present findings from her recent dissertation in the area of holistic admissions.
