Letter from Principal Young

Dear OLOL Families,

We hope that each of you had an opportunity to spend some time together as a family during last week’s spring break

The Annual OLOL Lenten Dinner is right around the corner. The Lenten Dinner is Friday, April 1st from 4:30 - 7:00PM. We need plenty of volunteers to make this happen. If you need to earn TSF hours please sign up HERE. Please prayerfully consider signing up for a slot or two. Community is an important component of the education journey. Please help us create the wonderful learning community we have by volunteering. We hope after volunteering you stick around for dinner and the 8th grade carnival. Proceeds from the carnival support the 8th grade class trip.

Also coming up in April is OLOL Trivia Night. This event is Friday, April 22nd at the Green Bay Distillery from 6:30 - 10:00PM. .If you haven't attended this event you don’t want to miss it. It is a fun night when you get to show off your knowledge of information that might only benefit you for an evening like this. Please start getting your table of 8 together for this great event. Information on this event is going home with your child today.

Recently our art teacher, Ms. Cwiklewski, submitted original artwork by OLOL students to the Helen Mears Art Contest. Two OLOL students placed in the contest. Isabel Derouin placed 3rd and Vanessa McCallum earned honorable mention. Great job ladies and thank you for sharing your talents with the world.

I’m sure all of us have the Ukraine-Russia conflict on our minds. HERE is a resource that might help you at home if your child has some questions. I have had discussion with the OLOL staff, fellow GRACE principals, and other health professionals. After much discussion and prayerful reflection, OLOL will not be doing any in-depth lessons on the conflict. I feel kids have had extra anxiety and stress put on them during COVID and don’t need anymore stress at this time. Teachers will address the situation with careful language if it is brought up by students in particular grade levels, as 8th graders would ask different questions than a kindergartener would. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me directly. I’m happy to have a discussion with you.

“Let’s go forward in peace, our eyes on heaven, the only one goal of our labors” - St, Theresa of Lisieux

Wisconsin Tax Deduction for Tuition Expense

Tax legislation signed into law gives Wisconsin taxpayers the opportunity to deduct private school tuition expenses from their taxable income. A subtraction from income is allowed for tuition expenses that are paid for any of the GRACE schools. Parents/guardians are eligible for a maximum deduction of $4,000 per child in grades K-8 and $10,000 per child in grades 9-12. Students transitioning from eighth to ninth grade are eligible for both deductions. Per state guidance, any amount spent on tuition and book fees are eligible for the deduction. Book fees include digital books, such as laptops or tablet fees issued by the school.

Tuition tax credit information is available to GRACE families online via GRACE’s enrollment management system, TADS. The TADS Household Paid Tuition Tax Report will provide a breakdown of payments made for the specified household’s tuition account during the tax year.

When gathering information for tax preparation, GRACE families are to access their TADS account | select Billing | Billing Account Number | Reports | Household Paid Tuition Tax Report | enter the tax year (i.e. 2021) and submit. If you have questions or require assistance, please call TADS Family Support at (800) 477-8237.

Additional information regarding Tax Deduction is available https://gracesystem.org/admissions/tuition-assistance/

Enrollment: Parish Verification Form

Enrollment for 2022-23 is off to a very brisk pace, and we are pleased many of you have re-enrolled. We have already created waitlists for a few grades at some of our schools.

As reviewed in my January letter to you, new to the enrollment process for students in grades K through 10 this year is the Parish Verification Form.

This new process supports the meaningful relationship between our families and our GRACE parishes in harmony with our mission of growing in our Catholic faith. This process also recognizes our GRACE parishes who significantly support our schools through their financial investments.

  • Families enroll K-10 students with the Standard Rate of tuition in our TADS.com enrollment management system.
  • After enrollment, families are to complete - with their GRACE parish - the Parish Verification Form. Upon receipt of verification, the family’s TADS Billing Account will be adjusted to the Active Parishioner Rate (lower rate).
  • Your parish office will help guide you through the process of obtaining their verification. Our parishes define what ‘active parishioner’ means in each parish.
  • The Parish Verification Form and instructions are provided during the online enrollment process in TADS. Information is also available at gracesystem.org | Admissions | Parish Verification Form.
  • Please submit your completed Form which includes verification by your parish representative to GRACE Riverside Office by June 1, 2022. Tuition payments for 2022-23 begin in July annually. Submission instructions are on the Form.
  • Completed verification forms will be processed in batches at regular intervals. Each family will receive an email when their Form is processed and their TADS Billing Account is adjusted.
