Dear St. Serra Catholic Parents,

This past Sunday our PTO sponsored our first community event of the year, Concert on the Green, with the Tijuana Dogs from Huntington Beach performing.  It was a wonderful evening of music, food, and camaraderie that was supported by many Serra Families.  

At St. Serra our events are divided into events like this one, that are designed to foster community, and those that are designed as fundraisers. Our fundraising events support our annual fund, which bridges the financial gap between tuition income and the actual operating costs of the school, as well as our tuition assistance fund. Every fundraising dollar has a direct impact on the educational experience of our Serra students, whether it be in the form of technology upgrades, campus improvements, teacher professional development, student enrichment programs, or financial aid for our families in need. We are asking for your participation in and support for these very important events. A lot of behind-the-scenes planning is necessary to ensure that these events run smoothly and successfully.

One of our major fundraising events is our annual golf tournament, Golf Classic.  It will take place on November 4, 2021 at Arroyo Trabuco golf course in Mission Viejo. We hope you will join us on the course as a golfer, a volunteer, or for the Caddy Shack themed after party. Additionally, we would be very grateful for donations to our silent auction. It is our St. Serra community who make these events possible, and I would like to thank all of our families, friends, and sponsors who continue to support our needs at Serra.  It is people like you who make Serra what it is!

Spotlight: Recess Refresh - A Fresh Fruits & Veggies Program
St. Serra has officially launched a fresh produce program. We have partnered with local St. Serra family-owned, Moon Goat Farms, to provide our students with Farm to School produce daily.
Parent-Teacher Conference Schedule & Directions for Sign-up
Scheduled Conference Times (Times/Days may vary by teacher)
  • Wednesday, October 13: 2:00 - 6:40 p.m.
  • Thursday, October 14: 2:00 - 6:40 p.m.
  • Friday, October 15: 7:30 - 10:50 a.m.
You are invited to sign up for a conference with any or all of your child's teachers. All conferences will take place on campus.
Calendar Clarification: October 15, Parent-Teacher Conferences
School is not in session on Friday, October 15, and ONLY students in grades 3-8 that have their Parent-Teacher Conference scheduled on this day, need to come to campus with their parent(s) at their scheduled conference timeThere is no Extended Care offered on this day.
Yearbook Squad: Attention 8th Graders!
The Yearbook Squad is starting soon! If you're an 8th grader interested in creating content for this year's yearbook, fill out the application below and ask two teachers to complete recommendation forms for you. All paperwork is due to the front office (Attn: Mrs. Sifers) by October 8. Our first meeting will be Thursday, October 14 after school from 2:40-3:30 p.m.
Student Picture Days: Important Information
This year we will offer two options for ordering photographs. All parents have the option of printing the attached order form and sending it to school with your child on the day pictures are taken. The second option is for parents to view the images online after the pictures are taken.
Rebate News
Earn Extra Rebates every weekend in October, beginning October 8! Each weekend will feature a different lineup of brands. All gift card types (eGift cards, physical cards and reloads) are included. Questions? Please contact the Rebate Program at rebate@serraschool.org.
Did you volunteer for Concert on the Green or another volunteer opportunity?

Connecting Your Student Chromebook to a Home Printer
Follow these steps:
  1. At the bottom right, click on the time.
  2. Select Settings .
  3. At the bottom, select Advanced.
  4. Under "Printing," select Printers.
  5. Under "Available printers to save," next to your printer, select Save.
  6. Check that your printer appears at the top, under "Saved printers."
Yard Supervision Volunteers Needed
Yard Duty is in search of volunteers for the following areas: Lunch Table - 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., Choice Lunch - 10:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., Kindergarten - 11 a.m. to 1 p.m, and Morning Recess - 9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.. Contact Rosie at rchavez@serraschool.org.
Random Acts of Kindness
With our continued focus on the whole child, we see a need on our school campus for our students’ social emotional well-being. As a society, our students are facing more and more challenges and pressure both socially and academically.
TK & Kindergarten Service Project
In honor of St. Francis of Assisi’s Feast Day on October 4, the TK and Kindergarten classes are coordinating an all-school outreach project for the animals at the Modjeska Canyon Animal Shelter. Everyone is invited to participate this month by contributing items for the animals.
American Heritage Girls
Does your daughter have a sense of adventure, enjoy meeting new friends, and learning new skills? Then, scouting is for her! American Heritage Girls is open to girls ages 5-18 (Kindergarten - High School).
Campus Ministry (Grades 7 & 8)
All 7th & 8th grade students interested in Servant Leadership are invited to attend our first Campus Ministry meeting! We will discuss our goals for the year, and some of the outreach projects we hope to be involved in.
Celebration Book Club

Serra Band & Serranade Choir Start This Week!
Serra Band begins after school this Tuesday, October 5 and Serranade Choir begins at 7:10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 5. Both will meet in the SCLC Music Room, B123.
Substitute Teachers Needed
We have a need for Substitute Teachers in all grades and in all subjects.
Choicelunch: Starting October 4, No Late Ordering/Cancellation after 9 a.m. Day Before Service
Full customization of A La Carte sides is now available until 9 a.m. the day before. The full menu is available for ordering until noon, 3-days in advance. After that, late ordering is available until 9 a.m. the day before with a limited menu and availability on a first-come, first-served basis. Cancellations are available for full credit until 9 a.m. the day before. See table on the left.
TK-Grade 8 Extended Care Registration Open
TK - Grade 8 Extended Care is now open to all families who wish to register their children either for regular use or on a drop-in basis. Please click the link to register: TK-8 Extended Care Agreement. 
Trunk or Treat is Coming!
We're excited for the return of our Trunk or Treat event on Friday, October 29! We are looking for volunteers to host trunks (2 per grade). Other volunteer opportunities and details regarding student costume guidelines and schedule will be coming soon. Faith in Action: October Opportunities
Join us in service to our community at Family Assistance Ministries in San Clemente. Family Assistance Ministries is a faith-based charitable non-profit organization assisting those in need in Orange County with resources for food, shelter, and personalized supportive counsel and aid.
Auction Items Needed for Golf Classic!
Join us “fore” a good cause on November 4 at Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club for a fun day of golf. If you can't make it or if golf isn't your thing, round up your friends and join us for Happy Hour after the tournament. Additionally, the Golf team is seeking auction items for the online auction.
