NAWIC Tucson Chapter 122
Summer 2021 News Part 1
Miss a Little . . . Miss A Lot
Tracy's Tidbits
A note from Chapter President, Tracy Miller, Global Roofing Group (f.k.a Roofing Southwest)

Greeting NAWIC Sisters and Friends!

Hopefully, everyone is enjoying this amazing 2021 Monsoon season! It has been far too long since we have had this much-needed weather. Working for a roofing company, I am busy as a “one-eyed dog in a smokehouse," or a “one-armed paper hanger” (just a little Texas humor).

A very special thank you to Jamie Regan. On July 10th, she opened her beautiful home to all of us for our NAWIC Social. Kelly Thrush, her fiancĂ©e, who incidentally is vegan, barbequed the most amazing chicken and brisket for us to enjoy. Thank you, Jamie and Kelly! It was a good time to just visit, relax and enjoy some really good food with great company.

Also, at the NAWIC Social, we celebrated Florence Bramlett's 25th year of being a NAWIC member with the Tucson Chapter. Presenting her with a Membership Certificate and her 25th-year NAWIC pin was an honor. Congratulations to Florence and much gratitude for her continuous membership and continued support of the Tucson Chapter.

In a special board meeting on July 8, 2021, the National Board voted to make a bylaws change that would move new membership renewals from the current calendar date (October 1) to an anniversary date renewal. This bylaws change does not affect existing members' calendar date (October 1) renewals. Details of that meeting and the proposed change can be viewed below.

• APPROVED to circulate Sections A and C of the Operations Manual to move from calendar to anniversary date membership renewal for new members effective when the new website platform and member database goes live, tentatively November 2021.

• Chapters would receive chapter dues throughout the year as new members joining after the website and member database is live and renewed each year based on their anniversary date.

• Moving to an anniversary date renewal would eliminate the following:

  1. The 4th quarter membership includes the last quarter of the NAWIC year and the entire next fiscal year.
  2. Prorating 2nd-year renewals.

Speaking regarding NAIWC Membership, we now have 35 members! And, a couple of verbal commitments to join our family from prospects, pending their application. As we receive the new members’ bios, they will be published in the upcoming newsletters.

Looking Forward to the Future,
Tracy D. Miller
President 2020-2021

Welcome to our Newest NAWIC Tucson Sister!
A little bit about myself:
My name is Alyssa Ford and I am from Tacoma, WA. I enjoy playing golf and spending time outdoors. I am starting my junior year at the University of Arizona studying to get a B.S. in Urban and Regional Development with a minor in Business Administration. I am also starting the track to get my PMP certification and am planning on getting my Master in Construction Management.

I had the amazing opportunity to spend my summer as an intern with a company, E2 Optics which is a Women-Owned Small Business with headquarters in Denver, CO and locations nationwide. Over the span of my time working there, I was able to be exposed to and spend time on a construction site for 4 weeks. This experience has fostered my interest and excitement for working in the Construction Industry. I am excited and eager to learn more as I start my progress in construction.

I am looking forward to getting involved and making connections in the NAWIC Tucson Chapter!
