City Operations
The next City Council meeting is in person on October 4. The meetings will also continue to be streamed live at 7:30pm and can also be accessed on the City’s YouTube channel. The agenda can be found on the City's website. You are also welcome to watch the Council Committee of the Whole meeting that will begin at 6:30pm and then proceed directly into the City Council meeting. Please use the same link noted above. Bulk Pick-Up Week of October 4
Bulk pick-up will occur on your regular collection day the week of October 4. Bulk items are picked up once per month during the first FULL week of each month on your regular trash day; Monday-Friday is defined as a full week. Bulk pick-up is limited to four items per pick-up at no charge. All bulk pick-up items that are fabric must be wrapped in plastic. For additional bulk items, to request collection on any other day, or to request a special collection of loose brush, please use the form online. Cost is $10 per bulk item for a special pick-up.
 
Meet Your Police on October 7
Residents have the opportunity to interact with a ranking member of the Cleveland Heights Police Department on the first and third Thursday of every month from 6 to 8pm at the Cleveland Heights Police Academy (2595 Noble Road). Even though these meetings have resumed in person, there is still an opportunity to call in. Visit the website for details.
 
Happy 5K Run Canceled
The 2021 Happy 5K Run on October 3 has been canceled due to increasing COVID cases and the potential risk to public health and safety. Refunds are available at point of purchase.

October 4 Deadline to Register to Vote
Residents will be voting on November 2 to elect a mayor for Cleveland Heights for the first time in the city’s history. The deadline to register to vote is October 4. Those planning on voting via absentee ballot need to request that option by October 30.
 
Blood Drive on October 6
The American Red Cross reports that although our community has helped collect 294 pints of blood over the summer that have helped save up to 882 lives, there is still a critical shortage. The next Blood Drive is October 6 from 10am to 4pm at Church of The Saviour (2537 Lee Road). Visit their website to register or call 1-800-RED-CROSS.
 
Cleveland Heights Eco Fair October 9
The Cleveland Heights Green Team is sponsoring an Eco Fair at Coventry PEACE Park on Saturday, October 9 from 11am to 3pm. Fair participants will focus on resources for sustainable living; tips for healthy living; eco-friendly, hands-on fun children; and the opportunity to trade, upcycle and recycle stuff others can use in the swap zone. The Library Book Bike and a DJ will be on site as well. Masks are optional and parking is available behind the library. Supporting organizations include Heights Libraries and FutureHeights.
 
Welcome Back Nighttown in 2022
The team behind Red, The Steakhouse will reopen Nighttown, our iconic restaurant and jazz club, sometime in 2022 with the same “feel, look, and taste” as it had before closing in January 2021. According to reporting from Cleveland 19, there will be gentle upgrades to the space with the biggest changes in the kitchen.
