Classes resume on Monday, January 6, 2025. Welcome back, and best of luck this semester!


 

January 14


Last day to add or drop a second-term half (0.5) course or a second-term full (1.0) course. Courses dropped by this date will not appear on a transcript. Courses dropped after this date will appear on a transcript with a grade of ‘WDN’ (withdrawn, without academic penalty).

January 10-17


Welcome back, students! Frost Week runs from January 10-17 with exciting events like a Welcome Back Social, therapy dogs, a Resource Scavenger Hunt, Trivia Night, a Cultural Fair, and more! Stay tuned for more details!

Academic Success

Advising Drop-in Hours in January


The advising office will hold double drop-in hours Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from January 6-14. This is to help students make time-sensitive course and program changes.


These 10 min check-ins are available virtually or in person, and the hours are 10 a.m. -noon, and 1:30-3:30 p.m.

Be a Storyteller: SSHRC's 2025 Challenge!


The SSHRC Storytellers Challenge is your chance to shine! Share how social sciences and humanities research impacts our lives in up to three minutes or 300 words. Top 20 finalists win $3,000 each and a chance to compete for an additional $1,000 as a Final 5 winner.


Submit a song, poem, infographic, short essay, video, or audio clip by January 21, 2025.

TD1 Tax Forms


If you are a student working at King's, please remember to update your TD1 tax forms for 2025. If you have any amounts listed other than the Basic Personal Amount, such as extra tuition amounts, tax exemptions, or other adjustments, you need to submit your updated forms to payroll@kings.uwo.ca.


The forms can be accessed on the King’s website. If you have any questions or concerns, contact the Payroll department.

King's Author Series: We'll Always Be Here

Indigenous author and poet Melissa Schnarr, author of Second-Hand Moccasins, will deliver a keynote, “We’ll Always Be Here,” exploring Indigenous art and examining writing as a form of resistance.


This event offers an opportunity to engage in crucial discussions on reconciliation and decolonization, both central to our mission at King's, and to explore how these practices can enhance our teaching and learning environment.

Linda Staudt, past Director of Education for the London District Catholic School Board, will be sharing her reflections on the Synod as well as her reflections on synodality as experienced through “Conversations in the Spirit,” a method of discernment founded on prayer, listening, and silence.

New Hours of Operation for Campus Dining Locations


Starting January 6, 2025, Thames Market, Cafe 54, and Subway will have new hours of operation. For more details, please visit the Hours of Operation page.

New Shuttle Schedule


Starting January 6, 2025, there will be new operating hours for the King's shuttle service. Please refer to the updated schedule to plan your travel accordingly.

Book your grad photos


Celebrate your achievements and capture memories that will last a lifetime. Book your grad photo session and enjoy a mix of traditional and fun portraits that highlight your journey. Sessions run from January 22 to 28, 2025, with a $25 sitting fee that includes eight to ten poses in graduation attire, two to three poses in casual attire, and an 11x14 Graduation Class Composite. Secure your spot today!

Outgoing Exchange Information Sessions

 

Have you ever wanted to go on a global exchange? Visit King's International's 2024/25 Exchange Information Booths in the Student Life Centre on:


  • January 8 (from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.)


There will also be a Exchange Information Session on January 14, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in KC119 to learn more!


The atlas portal is now open; apply by January 15, 2025. King’s students who go on exchange are eligible for the International Study Award, which grants $1,000 per semester abroad. For details and dates, visit our website.

Help the Salvation Army Centre of Hope


The Salvation Army Centre of Hope needs help with warm clothing, shoes/boots, etc. The winter winds have started and they require assistance to ensure the residents stay warm. If you are able to help, you will find collection boxes in the following areas on campus:

  • Outside the Social Work office in Labatt Hall
  • Outside the Security office in the Student Life Centre
  • Outside the Student Finance desk in Wemple Hall
  • In the cafeteria stairwell in Wemple Hall

We resume our 5 p.m. Mass on Sundays on January 12, 2025 at Windermere on the Mount and daily masses every Thursday and Friday at NOON in the Christ the King Chapel, Wemple Hall on January 9, 2025.

King’s volunteer ministry at St. Joe’s Café (soup kitchen) continues on Saturdays from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. New dates have just dropped from now until May.
