Staff Spotlight

Congratulations to eight PVHS teachers who were honored as Chuck Miller Grant winners at the PEF Major Donor Event this week. Jennifer Cho, Barbara Ferraro, Megan Jarrin, Daniel Kilpatrick, Marie Kuhn, Lorraine Loh-Norris, Julie Munoz, and James Warren applied for and received grants for creative and innovative new projects ranging from "Robots, Robots, Robots" to "Our Anatomy Class is Pregnant!" Thank you to PEF and Chuck Miller for supporting our teachers!
PVIT Spotlight

The PVIT program is in high activity mode with students working toward engineering competitions. With post-quarantine pent-up demand and high interest, over 120 students meet each week to design, build and test their projects. The four VEX Robotics teams, pictured here, will compete next month to try out their new designs. After a highly successful 2020 season was cut short, they are anxious to get back on the field, spending a lot of non-school hours to perfect their robots.
Photography Spotlight

San Francisco Photo Field Trip
This November PVHS Art and Photo students went on a walking field trip to San Francisco for the day.
Students were able to apply what they learned in class by exploring the Financial District, Chinatown, Embarcadero, Haight Street, Golden Gate Bridge, Lombard St, Ghiradelli Square, and rode cable cars. We also met up with fellow PVHS graduates, Chloe Dowling and Ted Xiang who currently attend Berkeley.

Digital Art Students Drawing Opportunities on Campus
Last week during lunchtime, the Digital Art student group had live models pose for a life drawing session. Students were able to make art outdoors while exchanging ideas.
Student Spotlight

Members of PV High's outstanding Jazz Band performed at the Peninsula Education Foundation's event, Toast on the Coast. Sam Malekzadeh (Baritone Sax), Jared Kramer (Tenor Sax), Jeffrey Falcone (Piano), and Nicholas Wright (Drums) all did a great job during the event!
Athletic Spotlight

At the Cross Country CIF finals the boys team took 8th place overall with Will Kirk and Luke Stefanou advancing to the state championships. The girls team finished in first place and took home their 8th CIF title in the last 11 years. At the state championship Luke Stefanou finished 7th and Will Kirk finished 9th overall and the girls team finished 5th place overall. This is the 12th straight year that the girls have finished in the top 5 and ties a state record. Congratulations to all of our athletes and coaches!

Boys Basketball beat El Segundo 68-43 and Mary Star 62-33

Girls Basketball beat San Pedro 66-53 and lost to El Segundo 44-33

Girls Water Polo lost to the Palisades 13-9

The surf team competed at the Kick Off Classic Surf contest! PVHS had 2 students make the 6 man final which started out with 168 high school competitors. Conrad Sanacore got 3rd place and Karsten Wanke took 1st Place! This is a huge feat because this is one of the biggest contests, if not the biggest contest on the West Coast.
