We the people of Saint Stephen's in-the Field

Seek to know Christ, to share Christ, and to serve Christ,

recognizing his presence in all people, and reaching out in love

to each other and to the world around us.

10:00 AM Holy Eucharist at St. Stephen's

From the Rector

Dear friends,

Today is Epiphany!  The Christmas season is over, but the spirit of Christmas isn’t!

I never tire of this poem by Howard Thurman from his book, The Mood of Christmas and other Celebrations

“The Work of Christmas”

When the song of the angels is stilled,

when the star in the sky is gone,

when the kings and princes are home,

when the shepherds are back with their flocks,

the work of Christmas begins:

to find the lost,

to heal the broken,

to feed the hungry,

to release the prisoner,

to rebuild the nations,

to bring peace among the people,

to make music in the heart.

Blessing and peace,

 Karen+

Poem from the Garden

The wildflowers in

whites and creams and pale,

pale blues have begun

to spring from the seeds

we planted 4 weeks

ago in freshly

delivered compost,

dark behind the old

railway ties. They’ll be

growing up for spring

and summer bloomings,

and reseed readily

at their roots, ready

to greet us next year.

— Jessica Dickinson Goodman

NEEDING PRAYER SUPPORT?

Prayer is one of those things we often think about, might feel inadequate about, believe in but might be unsure how to proceed. How we pray is sometimes unique to each of us. The Church provides help in many ways. If you find yourself in need, of any kind (emotional, physical, spiritual, guidance, etc) consider how St. Stephen's can support you:

*   there is a prayer chain of committed pray-ers (who maintain confidentiality).

*   tell people about your answers to prayer! and the miracles you witness, or how prayer changes YOU.

Please submit prayer requests to Rev. Karen.
