OCTOBER 2: Marshall M. Fredericks Sculpture Museum, Saginaw
WHERE:  Saginaw Valley State University, 7400 Bay Road, Saginaw, MI 48710

COST: Free

Drop in at the Museum from 1 to 4 pm to create your own Colorful Tube Sculpture like Regional Biennial artist Claudia Hershman! Participants will collage, draw, and paint patterns on a smaller scale cardboard tube and then create negative silhouettes of people or other things directly over the patterns using white paint! Take them home to display or share on social media (tag us at #MarshallFredericksMuseum). A fun and free activity for all ages!

Reserved kits can be picked up in-store at our customer service desk on Saturday, October 9th or Sunday, October 10th. If your kit is not picked up by 8 p.m. on Sunday, October 10th, it may be given to a non-registered customer.

Mother Goose Rock and Rhyme Puppet Shows

Puppets take traditional fairy tales and bring them to life, define, them, or just make them funny in a performance format. Visit the Public Libraries of Saginaw Facebook page for new puppet shows posted on Thursdays!

Scarecrow Fest

Saturday and Sunday from noon - 6 pm, try your hand at the pumpkin catapult and see how far you can launch a pumpkin! You can also try your hand at pumpkin bowling, pumpkin painting, arts and crafts and take a ride on Grandpa Tiny’s barrel train. Some activities include a small fee.

We will also have free family entertainment in the Festival Platz near the Cass River and Grill during Kids Weekend – dance performances, music, yard games and more! More details to follow.

There is a Kids Costume Parade on Sunday, October 24 throughout the complex from 5:15 pm - 5:45 pm starting at the Fest Platz - kids who participate will receive a treat bag! Treat bags are first come, first served.

Two of the 600 treat bags will include a 'Golden Ticket' that you can redeem for an awesome Halloween prize package including a huge pumpkin to carve or paint with included paint markers, special candy treats and gift certificates that can be used at any of our stores at River Place Shops!

Must be redeemed onsite before October 31, 2021. No cash value.

Birch Run Premium Outlets is excited to host a free, "SPOOKtacular" community Trick or Treat Event on October 30th, 2021, from 3:00-5:00pm! The only requirements for this event are, children be in costume and are 12 years old or younger!
Retailers that are participating in handing out candy to trick or treaters will be recognizable by signage in their storefront windows!

This event is FREE for all. 
Class Information

Parenting stress? New baby in the house? Trouble with tantrums? Learn how to help your young child manage their strong emotions! Building Early Emotional Skills or BEES is a four-week class for parents and other primary caregivers of children 0-3 that teaches about how young children develop social emotional skills and helps give parents skills to deal with the stress of caring for children and help their children develop strong social emotional skills. BEES will help you learn about:

  • Your child’s temperament and stress
  • Your triggers and how to manage them
  • Being reflective about feelings and emotion coaching
  • Reducing biting, conflict and frustration and handling tantrums
  • Building a solid foundation for tomorrow

TRACK YOUR CHILD'S DEVELOPMENT

Families with children between the ages of 2 months and five residing in Saginaw County can complete a FREE Ages and Stages developmental screening or a social-emotional screening. Screenings take ten minutes to complete and the results are back within a week. Results tell parents what to expect at each state of development. Often times, early diagnosis can help give a child the best opportunity to reach their potential.
