Prairie Woods - Morning Drop Off

We have a very busy parking lot and want to make sure all our students are safe.  Here's a few reminders for morning drop-off.

  1.  I encourage anyone dropping off to stay in line and drop off directly at the crosswalk. This is truly the safest way as no one is walking through the parking lot. We can have two vehicles dropping off at a time as one can pull in front of the crosswalk and the second vehicle right behind the crosswalk.
  2. If you must park, parents/adults please walk your child to the main crosswalk area (sidewalk between the parking lot and the bus road) and not have them run in front of the vehicles dropping off by the crosswalk. I am worried that a driver in the vehicle may not look left as they pull forward.

Middle School Minutes

During the month of October, our Middle School will be solving the "Mystery of the Book of Secrets and the mysterious AL" - We're calling it - Mystery Month!

Clues are shared during our students' RAPP time. Throughout the month, our students and staff will work together to build a stronger Middle School community. Most recently they found a treasure hidden by the prospector, played by our very own School Resource Officer Holmquist.

Coming up each grade level will plan some fun fall activities during their WIN time for the last day of the quarter.

Respect Ownership Attitude and Responsibility (ROAR)

Each week, we will be awarding the Middle School R.O.A.R Award. Our first recipient was Amelia Morales. Amelia was nominated by Mr. Terres for lending a helping hand in the classroom and displaying great character traits and integrity. Congratulations Amelia!

Our second recipient was Kyla Vick. Kyla was nominated by Mr. Gravning for always doing as asked with a positive attitude. Kylas is also a great peer-helper when she completes her work. Congratulations Kyla!

High School Announcements

Time has gone by quickly and with just a few weeks left in the quarter, we encourage students and families to check Parent/Student Portal for any missing assignments.

October is College Knowledge month, and our counseling department recently arranged for our junior class to attend a College Fair at Ridgewater College. Our students gathered information and visited with representatives from over 50 colleges. As high school students think about applying to college, application fees should not be a barrier. There are opportunities to apply to Minnesota institutions for free. A complete list of where and when students can apply to MN postsecondary institutions without a fee can be found at the MN Goes to College Website.

NLS Art and Design class updated the Middle School Hallways with two new murals. They learned the process of making large works for public spaces as part of their Keith Haring unit.
