Every November, VASS holds an annual general meeting and invites all of its current members over the age of 16 to attend. This year it will be held as a Zoom event to keep us all as safe as possible. If you are interested in attending please click below and register. It usually runs 30-45 minutes. Zoom details will be emailed to all those registered, the day before event.

At this time we also accept new board member nominations. Should this interest you or you would like more information, please email Anne Bethune at Anne@vass.ca

STUDENT & VOLUNTEER
REGISTRATION UPDATE
STUDENTS:

The VASS ski and snowboard registration was a huge success and almost all programs are now full. Thank you all for your patience as we have been working through clarifying as many details as we can, to ensure that everybody has a smooth and successful season. Several members from the peer to peer and family programs may be getting contacted this week to confirm details and everybody will be accepted by November 6. After that point, if you believe that you have not been emailed a confirmation but should have, please reach out to James at 604-646-8277.

For everybody that has already been accepted into a program, congratulations! You likely will not hear from your program coordinators until mid December or early January to help you get you ready for the season. We look forward to seeing you all on the mountains soon.

If you have signed up for our drop in program and/or waitlist please continue to be patient as we are getting through as many of these as quickly as we can to try to ensure that everybody has the opportunity to get up to the mountain for at least a few lessons this year.

And if you were late getting signed up for lessons, and it was your intention to sign up this year, please go in and activate your profile or, create a profile if needed, and sign up for the drop in programs. This is your best chance to get on the snow this season. CLICK HERE

VOLUNTEER INSTRUCTORS:

<<<IF YOU ARE A RETURNING VOLUNTEER, WANTING TO COME AND PLAY THIS SEASON AND HAVE NOT YET SIGNED UP, PLEASE DO IT NOW>>>

Amazing volunteer instructors, we are so excited to have you with us this season to help create the VASS magic that is so powerful in delivering incredible experiences to so many. Looking through all of the profiles in SNOWLINE ,I can see that there is some of you who are very eager to help and have selected that you could help with multiple programs. It is vitally important that you go into your profile and select exactly the programs you really want to work with this season. I can tell you that our biggest need for extra people is on Saturday and Sunday mornings at Grouse and Seymour. As of Wednesday, I will assume that if you are signed up for a program that we should schedule you to participate in it.

Many of the new volunteers have signed up for CADS training. If this is you, please ensure that in your training tab you have selected: a zoom training session, an on hill training session and a CADS course weekend. If you haven't been able to sign up for all three of these, the only way it will be possible is if your name is on the waitlist. We are working on creating some more opportunities to get as many people certified as we can. If, for some reason, you cannot get certified this year, we would still love to have you as a volunteer. You will just be paired with a returning volunteer this year. Next year you'll get first crack at signing up.

Thank you all for sharing your passions and don't be surprised if you don't hear much from us before the beginning of the new year. Hopefully will see you at the movie night or at some early December training.

If anybody has any questions please contact James at 604-646-8277
Do you know North Shore Sport Swap? They are a new and used sporting goods store in North Vancouver. Owners, Chris and Cindy are massive supporters of VASS! Through October to April, if you bring in your lightly used sporting goods you can designate the goods for VASS. When the goods are sold, North Shore Sport Swap will split the profits with VASS. This is an awesome program, and I would urge you to help out if you can. Also, for the budget conscious, there is no better place to get fully geared up for the ski season! There is also a full tech team there to tune your skis in the winter and your bicycles in the summer. Head down and check them out.
