Kids on Wednesdays
6:00 PM in Room A105 (enter through the Portico)

*CHILDCARE PROVIDED IN ROOM B100*

Jesus challenged the status quo. From the moment He arrived on the scene, He made statement after statement that made people stop in their tracks. In fact, His statements made all the people around Him stop and say the modern-day equivalent of, “Say Whaaaat?”

If we are going to be the kind of Christians God has called us to be, we will have to learn to live the way Jesus lived and think the way Jesus thought. That means we have to retrain ourselves and reprogram our minds. We have to lose the human way of thinking and embrace the Jesus way of thinking.

In this series, your children will learn about some of the most challenging statements and teachings of Jesus. From learning to store up treasures in Heaven to learning to live without worry, your kids will be challenged to get rid of the “old” way of thinking and embrace the “Jesus” way of thinking!

"And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me." ~ Matthew 18:5

Youth on Wednesdays
6:00 PM in the Youth Lounge (enter on the Calvary Dr side)

"Who am I?"

Students feel tremendous pressure to decide who they are, but they’re still just beginning to discover themselves. Parents and Leaders can take some of the stress off by reminding them that defining who they are is not a destination they reach, but a lifelong process. Encourage them to know that no matter how their interests, talents, and life circumstances change, Jesus says they are enough! Encourage your teen to bring a friend to Youth Group tomorrow night.
Youth to Adventure Landing
Sunday, September 26
2:15 - 5:30 PM

The bus will leave at 2:15 PM and return at 5:30 PM. Participants will enjoy 2 hours of unlimited miniature golf, laser tag and go-carts. The cost is only $20. Youth are encouraged to bring a friend. Sign up by using this link. Everyone will need a Permission Form, which can be downloaded below.

~ ADULT BIBLE STUDY ~

Why Read a Book with a Small Group?

Small groups focused on Christian discipleship have served well in the church for a long time. In fact, throughout church history, you can point to various forms of groups gathering together to strengthen one another as believers: small churches meeting in homes, monasteries and convents that are essentially full-time groups living together, prayers circles, secret churches in countries where gathering in large groups is dangerous, and on and on. Small groups, in various forms, have always been a part of the Christian journey.

But, why read a book together? Why not just read the Bible? That second question is one I get every now and then. I am certainly not opposed to small groups reading the Bible together!! In fact, we do that every Wednesday night at the church (and on Facebook Live). Reading a book, however, gives a group the chance to think about the Bible, about faith, and about life in a different way. It gives you someone's thoughts to interact with, along with interacting with the group itself. It gives you a chance to put into words what you think, the challenges you face, and the questions you have about faith. Sure, you can do this with the Bible as well, but a good book can bring this out effectively. And, like small groups long run in the church, the practice of "spiritual reading" also has a long history in the church.

Be on the lookout for news of another book group opportunity in the coming weeks. I will be leading a group on a book focused on prayer...a practical book on a topic I think many of us want to learn more about.
