End of Summer Greetings!

Your editor did not realize how long it has been since a Torch was sent; please accept his apologies!

The URC was crazy busy all summer, and provides your some details about the work with:

  • Upcoming Interfaith Events (with Ansari Institute and Religions for Peace USA)
  • Emergency Rental Assistance and other Advocacy Center work
  • Refugee Resettlement and other Welcoming Michiana work

The demands on our work have never been stronger; have you got a few minutes to provide input on our efforts? If so, our board is beginning a strategic planning process this month, and asks for your input:

Refugee Work

The URC submitted a proposal to Church World Service, one of the NGOs that help the US State Department to resettle refugees in the US. It was anticipated that approval would be known by August, but the situation in Afghanistan took over. Our committee had turned its attention towards how the St. Joseph County community could be of help; a Torch in the near future will provide more information on Welcoming Michiana than is available at this time.

Please stay tuned!
