Honoring the the Italian American heritage and cultural contribution to the Bronx

Morris Park Avenue is decorated with Italian and USA flags today - it’s that time of the year, when #MorrisPark celebrates the Italian-American cultural heritage and its contributions to the #Bronx. Please be mindful of #MorrisPark Ave and Williamsbridge Rd closure on Sunday, October 9, 10am to 4pm. We are also happy to inform that Anna Agovino, owner of Morris Park famous La Casa Del Caffe will be honored by the Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson, during a special ceremony to be held on October 13th, 2022. Thank you!

NYC DSBS team visits small businesses

on the Morris Park commercial corridor

Thanks to the @nycsmallbiz Neighborhood Development team for visiting #MorrisPark Avenue with us, meeting our entrepreneurs and business leaders - working together for capacity building and for the success of #Bronx small businesses! With @vannesthardware @contis_pastry_shoppe @topthriftny in #MorrisPark!

DEP upgrades and maintenance of Radcliff Ave sewer main line

Information from DEP on ongoing work on Radcliff Avenue (photos 9/26 and 10/7): The emergency contractor (Delaney Construction) completed roadway restoration and clean up last week. Pavement markings are scheduled for this week. The contractor started lining the sewer on Radcliff between Pierce and Sackett Aves last week. The lining process is very weather dependent, cannot be done with any rain and may run longer than anticipated. Weather permitting, DEP’s contractor is to start mobilizing to the site and start lining of the Radcliff sewer trunkline. The contractor works manhole to manhole (no digging on the street). There is no water shutdown scheduled however DEP @nycwater will advise homeowners when to limit water use. Thank you!

Morris Park BID in Crain's Business NY

Thanks Crain's New York Business for highlighting contribution of outer boroughs commercial corridors to the economic recovery of NYC! The Morris Park BID beautification program and community work were presented in an article by Cara Eisenpress on September 26, 2022 issue of the magazine.  We will continue  making a difference for our small businesses and the community in the #Bronx, through beautification and capacity building! Events with community partners: CB11 and Assemblywoman Nathalia Fernandez

We thank Bronx Community Board 11 and New York City Department of Sanitation for partnering and providing the free community shredding service brought to Morris Park Avenue yesterday. Thank you all!

Thank you Assemblywoman Nathalia Fernandez, Morris Park Community Association and all partners assisting in the Back to School event yesterday on #MorrisPark Avenue. We appreciate your support to our work assisting small businesses and the #MorrisPark community!

Morris Park and Van Nest History

Check out this 1913 view of Morris Park Ave at Bogart Ave - named to honor John Bogart, Chief Engineer of the 180th St (Washington) Bridge into Manhattan. A lot changed…but we still have the ‘vintage’ electrical poles infrastructure

Victor Street was opened in 1915, named to honor writer and editor Victor Orville (1827-1910), that popularized the ‘dime novels’ and authored several biographies and history books. Thanks @DelanceyPlaceNT for this piece of historical info.
