CARVER VOICES - JANUARY

MAKING THE HOLIDAYS BRIGHT

A heartfelt thanks to Nella and Lou Larizza, along with their friends and family, for their donations of holiday gift cards. These gifts brought joy and countless smiles to the basketball participants in Beyond the Game and to the families who benefit from Carver Center’s Case Management Services.

Thanks, Nella and Lou! Your kindness makes a lasting difference in our community.

EMPOWERING FUTURES: TEEN ALUMNI CONNECT

Carver Center’s Teen Center hosted an Alumni Night on Tuesday, January 7. Teen Center alumni were invited to share their college and career experiences with 22 junior and senior Teen Center participants.

Eight of our Teen Center Alumni answered broad questions asked by our current teen center students in panel format. Participants were then broken up into rotating break out groups where they were given the opportunity to ask more targeted questions.

Thank you to David, Kayley, Maria, Kevin, Chantal, Ana, Astrid, and Isac for coming back to Carver and sharing your experiences with our teens.

MAKING A SPLASH

The Carver pool was buzzing with excitement as swimmers gave it their all in a thrilling swim meet against the Stingrays from the JCC of Mid-Westchester.

Our families roared with excitement with every close finish. From powerful dives to final-stretch sprints, every moment was a testament to the hard work and determination of our 20 swimmers.

We are loving the spirit of teamwork and

camaraderie that fills the air. From cheering on teammates to celebrating personal bests, our swimmers continue to show incredible dedication and sportsmanship.

We can’t wait to dive into the next one on Feb. 15 at 1:00pm!

CELEBRATING CARVER'S EMERGING LEADERS

Congratulations to Olivia Jimenez, Director of Advancement (left), and Daisy Garcia, Case Manager, for being selected to Nonprofit Westchester’s prestigious Emerging Leaders Program, Class of 2025! This 11-month professional development program is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of nonprofit leaders. Through expanded nonprofit knowledge, enhanced leadership skills, and opportunities for networking and collaborative learning, Olivia and Daisy are poised to make an even greater impact.

We are excited to see the empowering work they will continue to do for our community!

RESCUING RESOURCES, NOURISHING NEIGHBORS

Our Retail Recovery Program rescued an impressive 167,209 pounds of food in 2024 from our 16 dedicated retail partners—a remarkable achievement that reflects a 30,000-pound increase from the previous year. This growth demonstrates the strength of our partnerships and our shared commitment to reducing food waste and addressing food insecurity in our community.

Food recovered is distributed to our community through the Carver Market.

LIONS CLUB HONORS

We are honored to share that Carver Center has been awarded the Community Service Award by the Larchmont Mamaroneck Port Chester/Rye Brook Lions Club. This recognition reflects the dedication of our team, volunteers, and supporters in making a meaningful impact in our community.

Thank you Lions Club for this wonderful honor and for acknowledging our commitment to service.
