More Than 500 Receive Vaccines at 5+ Clinic on
November 15
This past Monday, November 15, in partnership with Community Care Clinics of Minnesota, a COVID vaccine clinic for students ages 5+ was hosted at St. Louis Park Middle School. At the event, 517 students were vaccinated and will have the opportunity to receive their second dose on Monday, December 6. If families signed up and attended the first clinic this past Monday, they are automatically signed up for the second clinic which will also be held at the Middle School.

The event was run by volunteers and could not have been a success without them. THANK YOU to Community Care Clinics medical and non-medical volunteers, St. Louis Park Public School staff volunteers, and St. Louis Park Community Education Volunteer Program volunteers for your time and support!
Covid Updates and Important Information for Families
The challenges of COVID continue and Susan Lindgren Elementary School - like most elementary schools in Minnesota and nationwide - is feeling the impact as we all work together daily to do our best to ensure the health and safety of students, teachers, staff and the entire community. I want to share some specific information for families regarding COVID and Susan Lindgren Elementary School.

Recently, we have had an uptick in the number of students with positive COVID cases. The Site COVID Team and the entire school team are doing everything we can to keep our students and ourselves as safe and healthy as possible.

At Home Learning During Quarantine Plan - Clarifications for Families
When a student needs to quarantine, our entire school team is there to coordinate at home learning.

When a student has to quarantine for 3-5 days, either a classroom teacher, specialist teacher or Elementary Support Supervisor Arsenio Richardson will schedule a single Connect time - by phone or virtual meeting in Google or Zoom - with the student (not once per day). Specialist teachers and school leaders will be connecting directly with your classroom teacher to share anything you may need. We are a team committed to the success of all students!

If the student has a longer quarantine period (for example 6-14+ days), either a classroom teacher, specialist teacher or Elementary Support Supervisor Arsenio Richardson will schedule Connect meetings with the student 2-3 times (not 2-3 times a day).

Let us know if students need a school chromebook for use during quarantine and we will provide that for you.

For a detailed description of the school district’s At Home Learning Plan, SEE BELOW.

Thank you for your partnership as we continue to navigate through times none of us have experienced before. We so appreciate your support and partnership!

PTO News
Restorative Practices in SLP Schools information and PTO Meeting Recap
We had a fantastic meeting last night with guest speaker Michele Edwins, Restorative Practices Coordinator with SLP Schools. Michele presented information on what restorative practices are, why they are important, and how they fit into the district's racial equity policy that is currently being developed. We are grateful to her for sharing her knowledge with us and it was fascinating to learn about this topic! See below for links to more information about restorative practices in our schools.
Also at the meeting, we heard from teachers to get a snapshot of what students are working on at each grade level. We got an update about SLP Read$: there were many classroom bingos and a few complete blackouts! Way to go students! Our fundraiser was a success and we raised over $26,000. We reviewed the PTO budget for this year and voted to approve it.
If you missed the meeting, you can view the Zoom recording or check out Michele's slides
You can also view a recent school board meeting from October 12 where restorative practices are discussed (beginning about 11 minutes into the recording).
Finally, I'm so proud to be a part of a school district that values racial equity and restorative practices. I'm grateful to all educators in our district who are tackling this challenging and important work. I look forward to sharing more of it with you in the future!
