NBM is a month-long celebration held each October, and it focuses on the importance of reading.

Violence has become ever more

present in our society at epidemic proportions--overt and covert.

Often the younger generation mimics

what they see and/or hear at home,

positive or negative, that may be passed down to the next generation.

The 2021 Elizabeth Keckley Honorees

The Keckley Awards Ceremony is an event that honors individuals who have demonstrated lives of public service and dedication to building and expanding the American Black Middle/Working Class.

Elizabeth Keckley was borned enslaved, but bought her and her son's freedom. She worked closely with Frederick Douglas to help enslaved people escape to freedom.
