Christmas Eve worship bulletin:

4:30pm Family Friendly Worship—A lively and spirited service with Nativity scriptures, carols and contemporary reflections. We will sing Silent Night by candlelight as we prepare to go out into this holy night.

7:30pm Candlelight & Communion—This traditional service includes the Christmas Gospel, choir and carols as we ponder what this love story means for us today. We will share Communion at our open table and sing Silent Night by candlelight.

As we get closer to Christmas Eve, please consider being a leader here at PUCC that evening. Due to illness, weather/temperature warnings and changes in plans, we are in need of more help on Saturday night.

Please click on the link below and sign up for either 4:30pm or 7:30pm if you are around and if you enjoy this kind of thing.

Worship with Us this Sunday

December 25, 2022 | CHRISTMAS

10:00am In-person and Facebook Live or replay on Facebook later

It’s Christmas Day!

Of course we will sing Christmas Carols! Our Psalm is Psalm 96 about and a great celebration and we will hear the Christmas Story from the Gospel of Luke.

Why is Christmas such a big deal? What will we do when Christmas is over?

We will light all four Advent candles around the wreath and the Christ Candle in the center.

HEAR YE! HEAR YE! Mark your calendars now to attend this wrap-up of the Christmas Season. Multiple choirs, food and FUN! TO THE PUBLIC, so bring your friends and family. We just ask that everyone bring one plate of “heavy hors-d’ouevres” (about 12 portions) to share for the Feasting Table. Drinks (including non-alcholic “wassail” punch) provided. Contact Music Director Barry: [email protected]

Ponder

St Nicholas is a forerunner of Santa Claus. It is difficult to identify biographical information about him because the accrued legends are so numerous. But when we do look at the legend, a powerful image emerges. When his wealthy parents died, Nicholas gave away the riches to help the poor, focusing on secretly giving presents to children in poverty. As centuries wore on, miracles were attributed to his memory, and the story grew. ~Carl Krieg

Humor

For the weather:

What do snowmen call their kids? Chill-dren.

What falls in the winter but never gets hurt? Snow.

Why did the girl keep her trumpet out in the snow?

She liked playing cool jazz.

Knock, knock. Who’s there?

Icy. Icy who? Icy you!

For Christmas:

How can you tell that Santa is real? You can always sense his presents.

Why will Santa go down your chimney on Christmas Eve? Because it soots him.

How did Mary and Joseph know Jesus’ weight when he was born? They had a weigh in the manger.

What did the third wise man say after his friends had already presented gold and frankincense? “But wait, there’s myrrh!”

What did Adam say the day before Christmas? “It’s Christmas, Eve!”

Please take the time to read this piece from our friend John Pavlovitz. He shared it last week after Stephen tWitch Boss’ death by suicide. https://johnpavlovitz.com/2022/12/15/the-mask-of-mental-illness/
