For Doug, Deborah & Mallory as they grieve the death of Helen Bryant and as they give thanks for her life, that in your Love O God never ends.

Helen Bryant, long time member of the Chatham UMC, entered Life Eternal on October 20, 2021 at the age of 80, after a brief hospitalization.
A Memorial Service for Helen Bryant will be held in the Sanctuary on Saturday, November 6th at 11am. Immediately following, there will be a brief service in the Memorial Garden. At the conclusion, all are then invited to a catered luncheon in Rodda Hall where we can share more stories, conversation, community, and love for the Bryant Family.
Let us keep in prayer, Doug, and their daughters Deborah and Mallory, and their families. Cards of love and support can be sent to:

Adult Education Class
This Sunday we continue our exploration of Forgiveness – Why Bother? Why is it so difficult to forgive others, or even ourselves? What results from forgiving others? Even dying on a cross Jesus forgave one of the two criminals with him. What happened then?
Join us in the Asbury Room at 11:15 or online via Zoom. Contact Ron Yarger at ryarger@optonline.net for a link.

All Saints Day Service Sunday, November 7th
Sunday, November 7th will be our All Saints Day Special Service at 10:00 AM. This is an ancient tradition in which Christians remember loved ones who have finished their courses in faith, and now live in the heavenly realm. We will light candles in their memory, speak their names, toll the bell, and give God thanks for their lives and their homecoming into Eternal Life.
A list of names of loved ones is located outside the Sanctuary. We invite you to add names to this list if your loved one is not on it.
This Sunday is the final day the list will be outside the Sanctuary. Please call the church office at (973) 635-7440 or email churchsecretary@optonline.net if you would like to add a loved one to this list but are unable to come to the Sanctuary.
Deadline for all name submissions is Monday, November 1st at 10:00 AM.

CUMC Outreach - Volunteers are always needed | |
URGENT! Family Promise News and Call for Volunteers
One of the most impactful lessons we hear at Family Promise Volunteer training, and there are many, is the admonition: “Just because you don’t see children, it doesn’t mean there are no children in the family.” Stunning. Now it has been two pandemic years since we sheltered families at our church. And the corollary here is that just because we do not see them in our midst, it does not mean that there are not yet families in the shelter program, or that our CUMC Family Promise Ministry is not supporting them faithfully with groceries, meals and transportation. On behalf of the families, many thanks to all who have helped.
Our next and final hosting week in 2021 is November 14 through 21. It will follow the same pattern as our last week in the summer — delivering home made meals or arranging for restaurant meals to be delivered to the families being housed in hotel. We need help! No contact with the guests is required. Please contact Claudia Shaw (973-454-2014) if you are moved to provide a meal, or donate funds for sorely needed groceries, gas cards or transportation.
At the Church Council's October 12 meeting we presented an update on the CUMC Family Promise Ministry. A task force with representation from our various CUMC programs is being formed to consider the future of our Family Promise Ministry beyond September, 2022, when the Family Promise Cares Grant is set to expire, and host churches would be expected to resume housing families on their premises. We will provide updates in the newsletter as decisions are made.
