Coachella Valley Receives $2 Million for the California Department of Education Learning Communities for School Success Grant
Coachella Valley Unified School District received the CDE Education Learning Communities for School Success Grant in the amount of $2 Million.

Coachella Valley USD will utilize LCSSP funds to expand existing community partnerships to increase intensive services to students who are at most risk of dropping out of school. Services will include culturally-based, trauma-informed community engagement, and social-emotional support for students to impact student engagement, attendance, and academic success. 

This award came into fruition due to the vision of the Coachella Valley USD leadership and Dr. Julie High, California Consulting Senior Project Manager.

Coachella Valley Unified School District was Awarded $1,229,114 for the Carl Moyer Infrastructure Grant from South Coast AQMD
Coachella Valley Unified School District (a CC client) received $1,229,200 for the Carl Moyer Infrastructure grant from the South Coast Air Quality Management District.

Coachella Valley will fund to construct clean energy fueling stations that use compressed natural gas (CNG). CVUSD will also upgrade existing stations to accommodate a growing fleet of CNG buses

CC congratulates TreePeople for receiving the LA County Regional Park Open Space District (Measure A) Recreation Access Competitive Grant Program in the amount of $929,400.

This most recent accomplishment is another example of the commitment of TreePeople's leadership to protect and promote the quality of life for its community.

It’s also a reflection of the dedication and hard work of CC Project Manager, Jaimie Lewis who ensured a successful grant application.

The City of Imperial Beach Receives $250,000 from Calrecycle: Tire Derived Aggregate Grant
Congratulations to the City of Imperial Beach (a CC client) who received $250,000 for the CalRecycle- Tire Derived Aggregate Grant.

This fantastic award will provide opportunities to divert waste tires from landfill disposal, prevent illegal tire dumping, and promote markets for recycled-content tire products. The Tire-Derived Aggregate (TDA) Grant Program provides assistance to civil engineers in solving a variety of engineering challenges. 

California Consulting project manager Audre Lee wrote the award-winning application with key members of the city staff.

Client Spotlight: City of Imperial Beach
California Consulting is pleased to spotlight the City of Imperial Beach as our client spotlight in the newsletter.

Imperial Beach is the most south-western city in the United States and touts a rich culture of biking and hiking and yes, surfing. Imperial Beach is a border town and has maintained one of the last saltwater marshes/ estuaries in Southern California. The estuary houses more than 370 different bird species. some have even spotted parrots and pink flamingos.

The city hosts a variety of exciting events every year including a beachfront VW Air-Cooled classic car show, an annual dog-surfing contest, and Symphony by the Sea. The Imperial Beach Farmer’s Market is the only beachfront farmer's market in San Diego County, offering local fruits, vegetables, and community art. 

The City of Imperial Beach has been a client for only a short time and has received a 1509% return on investment.

There are many new and exciting economic development grant programs included in the State Budget and some coming from the feds via the State.

Funding is intended to ensure children receive mental health services despite school closures due to Coronavirus (COVID-19) This program will support long-distance mental health services through telecommunication technologies. SBHSN is accepting applications to implement Telehealth mental health program services for children impacted by short and long-term school closures. Telehealth is the distribution of health-related services and information via electronic information and telecommunication technologies. It allows long-distance patient and clinician contact, care, advice, reminders, education, intervention, monitoring, and remote admissions. The purpose of this program is to promote a collaborative and integrated approach amongst the education and healthcare community to ensure students succeed academically, socially, and emotionally while confined to home learning mandates during the nation’s current national emergency. Funding will initially support the coordination of behavioral health services utilizing Telehealth technology by licensed mental health professionals who will also coordinate academic-support activities in collaboration with school district designated program personnel. Once schools reopen, the funding will support the placement of a mental health professional on school campuses.

  • Funding to support emergency grants to individuals affected by COVID-19 due to quarantine, business closures and/or lay-offs, school or other community program closures, and/or lay-offs.

The Department funds two types of DWGs: Disaster Recovery and Employment Recovery. Disaster Recovery DWGs provide funding to create temporary employment opportunities to assist with clean-up and recovery efforts when an area impacted by an emergency or major disaster is declared eligible for public assistance FEMA or is declared as an emergency or disaster of national significance. Director of Communications, Shasta Bell
California Consulting is pleased to spotlight our Director of Communications, Shasta Bell.

Shasta Bell is California Consulting’s Director of Communications. She is responsible for developing communication strategies. This includes writing publications, web marketing, website management, creating content, and managing social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn, media outreach as well as coordinating conferences, webinars, and managing inter-company communications. Shasta also manages executive office administration.

Formerly the Executive Assistant to the President of Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Arts (SAG-AFTRA), she has highly valued union knowledge as she participated in all aspects of union life, including quality analysis, member satisfaction, and merger assistance.

Prior to SAG-AFTRA Shasta assisted the President/ CEO of GameWorks where she received hands-on knowledge of the Family Entertainment Center business.
