Do you know anyone interested in becoming a Catholic? Do you know any Catholic adults who have not received the sacrament of Confirmation?
Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is a process designed for adults who, after hearing the mystery of Christ proclaimed, consciously and freely seek the living God and enter the way of faith and conversion as the Holy Spirit opens their hearts. By God’s help, they will be strengthened spiritually during the preparation and at the proper time, will receive the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist or complete their initiation into the Catholic Church.
Our Parish together with our cluster of Plymouth and Kingston Parishes is offering programs of instruction and faith formation designed to welcome adults and teenagers into the Catholic Church and to complete the sacraments of initiation for baptized Catholics. Classes start Tuesday, October 11th at Saint Bonaventure in Manomet and will be held every Tuesday (excluding holiday weeks) from 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm through April 11, 2023. We are planning to hold in-person classes while respecting social distancing norms, but may switch to remote classes if the circumstances change.
If you would like more information about these programs or to register for upcoming sessions please contact John Blaha at (508) 746-1354 or jgblaha@verizon.net. We look forward to hearing from you!
If I truly believe in the good news of the gospel, why am I not bursting to tell the world about it? Why am I not overflowing with joy that explodes into my daily life?
Pray
Lord, I do believe, but sometimes my joy
at being saved and loved by you
gets buried in the anxieties and obligations of everydayness.
Please strengthen my faith and bring it to the forefront
of all I do.
Give me the confidence to share your good news
with those I meet in my daily journey.
It’s hard to do, but I sincerely want to try.
Amen.

Lessons and Carols
November 27, 2022 at 2:00pm
St Peter's Church
Lessons and Carols is a prayer service reflecting on salvation history from the Fall of Man to the birth of Christ and the Great Commission to preach the Gospel. There are scripture readings alternating with songs and prayers. Some songs are hymns which everyone is invited to sing, and some songs are choir anthems. It is a peaceful service, usually about an hour long. A beautiful way to put one's self into the true spirit of the Advent/Christmas season.
THE PERMANENT DIACONATE, WHO IS THE DEACON?
“Let them be merciful and zealous, and let them walk according to the truth of the Lord who became servant to all.” (St. Polycarp’s admonition to deacons, Lumen Gentium, #29)
The Order of Deacons was restored as a permanent and public ministry in the Roman Church at the Second Vatican Council. The aims of the diaconate are to enrich and strengthen the works of service being performed by the Church, to enlist a new group of devout and competent married and single men in the active ministry of the Church, and to aid in extending needed charitable and liturgical service to the faithful.
I would first like to thank our incredible picnic committee, all those who bought the food supplies, those who made the beautiful baskets, did the set up, the folks who ran the events, hosted the tables, the Thrifty Lily, cooked, served, DJ’d, sang, helped with parking, all those who came and enjoyed the day, those who bravely sat in the dunk tank, especially Deacon Dick
and Fr. Michael, cleaned up etc., etc. It was a massive undertaking!
We estimate that more than 300 people came! There were so many children, which was so great to see and wonderful teenagers who were an incredible help. One
beautiful child said to me that it was the best picnic ever! I couldn’t agree more! It was the best day I’ve had in my 4 years in our great parish!
Thank you to all of you who supported our parish picnic! I am so proud of our parish and so grateful to all who made it such a success!
The Liturgy of the Hours – A Training Session for the Laity
The Liturgy of the Hours, also known as The Divine Office, is not just for priests, deacons and religious. It is the public prayer of the Church, and it is for everyone! If you have ever wondered about this ancient and beautiful prayer, the Prayer Life TEAM is offering an orientation to the Liturgy of the Hours. This brief orientation will prepare those attending to lead the congregation as a presider or reader, but anyone interested in joining Morning/Evening Prayer is invited to attend the session as well.
The orientation meeting will be held in the upper church of St. Peter following Morning Mass on Saturday, November 19, 2022. The session will be repeated at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 22, 2022.
An offering of Evening Prayer for the parish will be announced at a future date and will rotate among our churches after the holidays. No orientation will be needed to join in Evening Prayer.

2022/2023 Cursillo Retreats @Holy Cross Retreat House :
Last week, I met with the deans of our diocese to discuss a number of issues, the most prominent of which was the ongoing process of merging some of our parishes and reorganizing others into clusters. These moves, which have been happening over the past several years, are necessitated by a number of factors: the diminishing number of priests, demographic shifts in our cities and towns, economic pressures, etc. Even as I expressed my approval for some of these changes, I told the deans that, for every strategy of consolidation, I want a strategy for growth as well.
Mary, Queen of Martyrs Parish sponsors an annual baby shower. This year your donations will go to Friends of the Unborn.

"God now asks of us sacrifices and reflection on our reverence for human dignity—in ourselves and in others—and on our service and discipleship, so that the divine goal for the human family and this earth can be fulfilled. Communion with God, sharing God's life, involves a mutual bonding with all on this globe. Jesus taught us to love God and one another and that the concept of neighbor is without limit.” (USCCB, Economic Justice For All)

GOAL Number Two… Fostering VOCATIONS of all kinds, including to the Diocesan Priesthood.
Our Vision Statement: Mary, Queen of Martyrs Parish is a welcoming community of prayer, growing in our love of God. We desire to share that love with all we meet in our daily encounters. We invite all who wish to join in celebrating the real presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist and in seeking a vibrant relationship with Jesus through prayer, Scripture, and the Sacraments.
The first goal of our Pastoral Plan Initiative was Developing a Prayer Life. That goal was implemented this past year and will continue to blossom this year.
As we begin to roll out the second goal of our Pastoral Plan this Fall of 2022, we will focus on the Fostering of Vocations of all kinds, including to the Diocesan Priesthood.
The first phase of this next milestone will include the creation and distribution of a Parish Prayer Card so that, as a parish community, we may pray together for all vocations.
The Prayer for Vocations Card has been created by our parish Prayer Life Team, which has met consistently for over a year, helping us all join in the many prayer opportunities offered in our parish.
The Prayer Card will be distributed parish-wide on October 15 and October 16, 2022. Parishioners are encouraged to take the card and to pray for all vocations, especially to the Diocesan Priesthood, which is a particular desire of Cardinal Sean…. that the Lord send men to be formed as priests in the Archdiocese of Boston.
You will also hear VOCATION prayer petitions in the General Intercessions at Mass and see some bulletin and digital newsletter highlights on vocations.
The Parish Prayer Team Plan is to also have parishioners speak about their own call to their vocation in a digital montage of witness stories!
Stay tuned for lots more on vocations over the coming months.
