Opportunities to Serve this Fall

Faith United’s Spiritual Formation and Youth Ministry Team long to be able to offer many fellowship, children, and youth programs, but are in need of willing volunteers. We also respect and understand people's concerns for their health and of family members. Please help us plan and prepare for fall ministries by completing this survey as soon as possible. Your response helps our staff and planning teams discern if we can move forward with fall ministries or be an indication that the timing isn’t right just yet.

How is God calling you to serve and make a difference in our church and community? How might supporting others on their faith journey help you grow in your faith? Plans are now underway to prepare for our fall season of ministry! There are opportunities to serve in a variety of ways:
  • Sunday School teachers and helpers at 9:45 on Sunday mornings
  • Wednesday Wonder Kids on Wednesday evenings
  • Wednesday Night Faith Connections meal team

Faith & Environment Weekly Thought:

The three elements of our planet that humans need to survive – air, water, and soil

One of God's gifts to us is the soil on our planet. The very word EDEN conveys a kind of magic to the soul. The word comes from a Hebrew word meaning "fertility," signifying the "abundant vegetation" that characterized the garden.

But Eden was more than a place of exquisite natural beauty and of lush abundance. It was also a place of divine trust; humankind was "to till it and keep it” (Genesis 2:15). This apparently unlimited store of sustenance, beauty, and wonder was left in humanity's care, the wealth of the ages in what proved to be fallible, erratic hands. The hobby gardener straightens up from hours of puttering and pottering and says, "Beautiful." Perfect? Yes, more perfect than any of us.

The wise writers of the book of Proverbs urged that we learn from nature. If we approach nature with even a modicum of humility, she will teach us. Protecting and nurturing nature's resources will unclutter our lives and allow us to hear God's voice.

"Images of Jesus"

Faith United is hosting a Community Art Exhibit from Sept 19 to Nov 14 in conjunction with the Fall sermon series "Questioning Jesus". The Exhibit located in the hallway from the circle driveway entrance to the Gathering area.

We are soliciting artwork from both the local art community and the congregation. You can submit an existing image of Jesus that was given to you or you can submit a new or existing creation of your own. Images of Jesus include any image or metaphor that has meaning to you. In the Bible there are many images of Jesus including mother, son, child, baby, friend, teacher, king, way, helper, healer, light, rock, leader, prophet, servant, miracle-worker, story-teller, savior, God, and more.

Late submissions will be accepted at the church office during weekday hours up to Oct 13. You may include a short description of the significance of your piece. All artwork will be recorded and ready for pick up at the end of the show. In addition, we are having a silent auction for those artists that are willing to donate their work. All proceeds will benefit the Hartville Migrant Ministry.

Contact dbenzing@aol.com or visit Images of Jesus if you have questions.

Pennies for Paraguay
Winter is almost over in Paraguay. The school year ends before Christmas. We are sponsoring five students this year. Communications are difficult because of the collapse of the postal system in that country as well as the death of Sue Givens on Easter Sunday. One thing is certain: the needs of the students have not lessened. In order to continue to support our five students in 2022, we will need $2500. Donations to this ministry can be made via by check to the church with “Pennies for Paraguay” on the memo line or via online giving selecting "Pennies for Paraguay" fund.
What's your favorite Scripture? Tell Us!

Our 3rd grade students recently received their Bibles. Contact Kathy Schmucker with your favorite scripture to share and encourage them to explore their new bibles.
