Opening Message

Dear OOMPH Community,

Many of us have met before, and for those I haven’t had the opportunity to connect with yet let me introduce myself: my name is Darshani Johnson, and I am the Senior Program Manager here in OOMPH. More specifically, I lead the student services team and provide graduate advising to those in the Interdisciplinary Program and the Food, Nutrition & Population Health Concentration. That being said, I am here as a resource for anyone who might have questions, and I welcome everyone to reach out. Since we operate primarily in the online space, I like folks to think of my email or appointments with an "open door" mindset-- I always encourage you to stop by and say hello and am here for the quick (or maybe not so quick) questions. I also want to validate that while every person's experience is unique, each one of you belongs here, and is what makes this program so special!

In the wake of the election coupled with current national and global events, we may be feeling a range of emotions. I hope, however you may feel, you're taking care of yourselves and connecting with your communities. Again, please take time for your own well-being and that of your loved ones. Campus resources are available for additional support, such as Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) in University Health Services. You can also download the DREAM Teams Self-Care Checklist. Acts of kindness and compassion are especially important now as we support each other. Thank you for all you do for your peers, colleagues, and yourselves. We are grateful for each of you.

Warmly,

Darshani Johnson

UC Berkeley Online MPH Senior Program Manager

Announcements

Your well-being matters! UC Berkeley offers a variety of resources to support you—including counseling, self-care tools, and wellness coaching. This is a reminder that you don’t have to face challenges alone, explore the links below to access care and support.

  • Getting Started: Mental Health Support
  • Online Self-Care Tools
  • Let's TALK: "Let's Talk" is designed for students who want to talk to a counselor casually. This is not a formal counseling session. Health Coaching: Health coaches support you through the process of defining and achieving your health and wellness goals by creating a sustainable and achievable action plan.
