Greetings!
Hello Neighbor,

February was full of love for District 6. Willow Glen welcomed The Halal Amigos to Lincoln Avenue. Their menu is full of traditional Mexican dishes that are halal. Make sure to stop by and say, "hola!"

Last month, I shared District 6's 2021 highlights at my State of the District. Check out the recording to hear what I aim to accomplish in 2022.

This month's newsletter features many Spring activities and provides updates on what has been happening at City Council.

There are also important resources such as senior pick-up meals, senior activities, and a volunteer opportunity for those looking to give back to our community.

Stay safe and I look forward to collaborating with you.

Best,

Dev
City Council Updates
Billboard Removal

This month, City Council voted to remove twelve billboards in San Jose.

I voted for this because in exchange for removing twelve blighted billboards, 215 trees will be planted.

Additionally, two digital billboards will be erected.
Nitrous Oxide Ordinance

Nitrous Oxide, commonly known as laughing gas is being sold in vape shops. I proposed an Ordinance this month to ban the sale of Nitrous Oxide products in smoke and vape shops.

Read the full memo here.
Measure E

The Council is deciding how to spend Measure E funds which were double than anticipated. My memo stresses the need for additional safe parking sites to address our growing homelessness crisis.
Building Electrification Plan
In an effort to meet our goals under Climate Smart San Jose, the City is currently developing a Building Electrification Plan to electrify all buildings in the City. This plan may include requirements to upgrade your electrical systems in your homes and businesses, so I encourage you to learn about the plan, and offer any comments or concerns you may have to City Staff. A final proposal will be brought before the City Council in May.

Redistricting Recap

As of February 11, 2022, San José has new Council District boundaries. The boundaries changed due to redistricting – the required process of redrawing the political boundaries for elective offices. This process takes place once every ten years, after the U.S. Census, with a goal of equalizing the population among districts.

Council District maps and frequently asked questions can be found online here: bit.ly/redistrictingsj or call 3-1-1. Search an address or location with this lookup tool.
