Welcome in 2015 with a visit to the Nevins Memorial Library.  We have some really interesting stuff happening this month.  Check out the Calendar of events to see when the book groups are meeting, we have them for almost all ages.  As always, during this snowy month, if you have any question of whether we are open just hit our webpage or give a a call before venturing out to a program.  We will always change our phone message when we close.  Take a look below for some of our highlighted programs for the coming month and we hope to see you here if just to sit by the fireplace and relax with a great book.

YA Happenings in January

Happy New Year everyone!!  We are looking to start 2015 off right with a great month of teen programs! Here are two to look forward to.  Keep in mind our bookgroups and TAG are stiull scheduled too!!  Look at the Calendar for those dates.

January 24th - 2pm - YA Section

Do you like to read comics?  Stop by on the 24th for a Comics Chat & Swap.  Let's talk about what's going on in the comics world and hear suggestions about what we should be reading!  Bring comics that you've read and enjoyed to swap with others too, if you'd like.

January 26th - 4pm

We are going to try knitting this month for our Teen Craft!  We will meet on Monday January 26th at 4pm.  We will supply some yarn and together we can learn this new (and supposedly very easy) method of knitting that involves straws.  Please come and join us, no matter if this will be your first attempt or if you are already an experienced knitter.  Feel free to bring your own knitting projects too, if you'd just like to knit in good company!

Art Lessons: Learning From Our Creative Experience with Sue Kapuscinski Gaylord

January 28 - 7- 8:30pm - Garden Room

Join book artist Susan Kapusacinski Gaylord for a talk about art and creativity.  Susan believes that everyone is creative and that exercising our creativity makes us happier and more fully human.  In this illustrated talk she shares her 35 year history in the arts (calligraphy, book-making, digital compositions) and the hard-won truths she has learned: the importance of patience, the development of the critical eye, making peace with the desire for perfection and the idea that an artist's best teacher is the work itself.  Her goal is to put the audience in touch with their own creative experiences whether they be art, crafts, music writing, gardening, fashion or home decorating.
