The Office of the Federal Housing Advocate is supporting CLELN in the creation of a Lived Experience of Homelessness database directory. This directory will be a directory of organizations and or entities created for, created by, and led by people who have and are experiencing homelessness.
We hope to create a robust and authentic directory so that Lived Experts can inform the work of the Federal Housing Advocate to ensure that the Right to Housing is upheld and realized in Canada!
The provincial government’s housing policies under More Homes, More Choice: Ontario’s Housing Supply Action Plan are working to make housing more affordable by increasing the supply of the full range of housing options, from single-family homes to midrise housing to apartment buildings, and the Housing Affordability Task Force has provided the government with recommendations on additional measures to address market housing supply and affordability.
As a CEP, Cities Ending Poverty, member we were mentioned in this report - see Housing and Homelessness, Dufferin County on page 11 under Built for Zero, and page 12 Landlord Liaison, also see DCEC Health Equity page 21

Nonprofit Appreciation Week
February 14-20, 2022

This week we celebrate the first ever Nonprofit Appreciation Week in Dufferin County and across Ontario. In December 2021, the province passed Bill 9 to create this week, a motion that was unanimously supported by all parties.

For those of us who work in charities and nonprofits, this kind of recognition and support is unprecedented. And it comes at a time when nonprofit staff have shown their skill, dedication and ingenuity in helping vulnerable people through the pandemic.

Nonprofit Appreciation Week gives our community a chance to show how much they truly appreciate this work. Along with our friends at the Dufferin Community Foundation, County of Dufferin, United Way Guelph Wellington Dufferin, Dufferin Board of Trade, DC MOVES and Headwaters Communities In Action, we have put together some spotlights, words and acts of appreciation for the nonprofits and charities that serve Dufferin residents. Whether you run a nonprofit or charity, or volunteer with one, a big THANK YOU for all that you do.

Leading with Empathy
Empathy can be a powerful antidote to burnout, and contribute to positive experiences for both individuals and teams. Since the onset of the pandemic, studies have emerged finding empathy to be one of - if not the most important leadership skill. Being invested in what you and your team are feeling, thinking, seeing and experiencing is proven to lead to better outcomes - and a healthier team!
