SUMMER EVENTS

There are SO many wonderful events this summer - the Upcoming Dates section below includes a comprehensive list. If you have a summer activity, you'd like us to add, please let me know! Here are a few events we haven't yet featured, which we'd like to highlight this month: 

ALL AGES:

• NEW! Food Bank at Agape: (8/16, 8/23, 8/30): Did you miss the chance to register your group for the Agape Service Project this summer? You can still arrange a day trip to help with Agape Food Bank in Lynden, WA! Volunteers are needed on these particular dates; all group sizes welcome. Email Kelsey at Kelsey.Harrington@seattlearch.org to make arrangements.

HIGH SCHOOL:

• Quo Vadis Days: 6/26 - 6/28 at Camp Hamilton. This event is for young men in high school who may be discerning a priestly vocation.  FLYER
• Unplug with the Lord: 8/15-8/17 at ABRC. High school juniors, seniors, and recent grads are invited to this retreat exploring various approaches to prayer, how to hear God's voice, and discern His will. FLYER

YOUTH MINISTER/VOLUNTEER

• Unplug with the Lord – Mentors' Track: 8/14-8/16 at ABRC. Assist as a student mentor during the first two days of this high school retreat, with the option of arriving early and attending a Mentors’ Retreat. 
• Core Team Training: 8/19 at Holy Family in Kirkland. Registration opens soon.

You have questions about our upcoming local WYD Events- We have answers!

What are the Local WYD Dates and times?

• WYD Anacortes - Tuesday, 8/1 from noon - 4pm at St. Mary Church
• WYD Vancouver - Thursday, 8/3 from noon - 4pm at Our Lady of Lourdes
• WYD Seattle - Saturday, 8/5 - Pilgrimage Day beginning with 10am Mass at St. James Cathedral, with visits/activities at St. Ignatius Chapel (Seattle University) and Immaculate Conception Church. Day concludes around 3pm.

What is WYD and why are we offering local celebrations in our archdiocese?

• World Youth Day is a pilgrimage of young people from all over the world, gathering together with the Holy Father as an expression of the Universal Church. This year, it takes place in Lisbon, Portugal, which is far away!  
• We are offering this series of regional World Youth Day events to make WYD accessible to young people throughout the archdiocese, to give them the opportunity to participate in this global Church event, and to inspire them to attend World Youth Day one day in the future!

What does a Local WYD Day look like? 

• Each day we will mirror the activities offered in Lisbon. Click here for the schedule. All events are different - Come to one, two, or all 3! 

Who should attend Local WYD?

• Our local WYD events are designed for high school student groups and college-aged young adults. High school students can attend with a parent, chaperone, or with their youth group. Young adults can come in organized groups or individually.

How can I get involved?

• Get the word out and bring a group!
• We're also looking for young adults who have been to World Youth Day and can share their experiences. Please email me if you know of someone who should be invited! 
• Registration opens soon! This is a BIG event, and our Comms team is working on marketing materials for you – stay tuned for more on Local World Youth Day!

This month, please share your ideas about... Fundraisers! What are some good fundraising activities that are both effective and fun?

We usually meet at noon on the 2nd Thursday of each month – BUT this month, that falls on Thursday, June 8th, the day of the PAFF/Youth Minister Conference. We’ll meet one week later instead. AND, we’ve gotten some feedback that lunch on Thursdays doesn’t work for everyone, so let’s try a different time this month and see if that works better!
