A Knight's Tale | September Newsletter
Dear North Side Community School Friends,

Welcome to Autumn 2022!

As the weather turns from Summer to Autumn, our amazing students have settled into a great year of learning! As they 'dust off' skills they learned last year they are challenging themselves to learn new skills, practice, and grow. A day doesn't go by there aren't dozens and dozens of reasons to be proud of them! This week marks the launch of our 'Thumbs Up, You're Terrific' positive reinforcement program showing students we think each of them is terrific and appreciate the great choices they make each day! If you are ever on campus and see students making great choices feel free to join us and give them a thumbs up!

As I write this letter we have just completed a full day of professional development for our terrific North Side Faculty. Today we focused on how the new classroom smart boards can be used as an effective instructional tool. Our faculty invested time in learning about the concept of universal design and ways to adapt instruction in the classroom for our most challenged learners.

Within this newsletter you will find opportunities to volunteer; we would love to have you join us! You will also find a fun way to support North Side Community School by attending our Young Friends Board's Topgolf Fundraiser! It's going to be a great event! Finally, there is some information about Gateway Children's Charity and their generous grant to North Side. We are incredibly appreciative!

Thank you for your support; we appreciate you!

Open House & Curriculum Night

It was a great way to kick off he school year. Parents shared their "hopes and dreams" for our students on classroom bulletin boards, shared music for our classroom playlists, and learned about the curriculum for the school year.

The school - family partnership is a key pillar of North Side's formula for success!

Gateway Children's Charity Grant Recepient
North Side is grateful to receive a $30,000 grant from Gateway Children's Charity to support several capital improvement projects at our Early Childhood Center.

“Gateway Children’s Charity has been a valued early education partner for North Side since the launch of our pre-K,” said Douglas Thaman, Executive Director of North Side Community School. “Like GCC, we see a strong pre-K program as a critical launchpad for students like ours who too often start school already behind. The positive classroom environment that GCC’s investment.
