Do you know our ReStore Staff?
Our hardworking ReStore staff puts in hours upon hours of effort into making the ReStore a wonderful place to shop, donate, and volunteer. Their consistent positive and easygoing attitudes are inspiring - especially throughout this summer's intense heat!

The entire team recently came in on an off-day to rearrange several big racks in the store to improve customer experience. We are grateful for their service and care to this organization and their willingness to help out wherever needed.

Congratulations to the following team members on their well-deserved promotions this summer:

Kevin Sample, Interim ReStore Manager
Brennan Moreno, Assistant ReStore Manager
Gary Morgan, Warehouse Supervisor
As many of you well know, Hurricane Ida made landfall in Port Fourchon, Louisiana, on Aug. 29 as a category 4 storm. Wind speeds were as high as 150 mph at the time of landfall, making it the fifth strongest hurricane recorded in the U.S. Even as Ida weakened to a tropical storm, it left damage throughout the country as it moved to the Northeast.

Habitat for Humanity International is currently collecting reports of damage from local Habitat organizations across the many states impacted by Ida. Teams on the ground will survey the destruction in the coming days as they navigate widespread power, water and gas shortages. Habitat’s role will primarily be in the long-term recovery of disaster-stricken communities, following the immediate response. Long-term recovery is among the greatest challenges in disaster response and recovery. Additionally, storms like Ida tend to most adversely impact the lower-income populations that Habitat serves.

"Our prayers are with survivors in all of the affected areas as we see the images of destruction from communities across our country. At a time when safe shelter has never been more important, Habitat is committed to working alongside these communities as they recover." - Adrienne Goolsby, Senior VP, Habitat for Humanity International

Habitat for Humanity of Denton County is proud to be part of the work of this global nonprofit organization.

The 2021 Interfaith Build Kick-Off Event will take place on Wednesday, October 20 at Trietsch Memorial United Methodist Church
As people of faith, we are called to respond to our neighbors’ needs, acting as God’s hands and feet in service to the world. When we come together to help people build better futures for themselves and their families, we actively participate in doing God’s work in the world. Habitat for Humanity offers concrete ways for people of all faiths to love and serve their neighbors.

A Habitat for Humanity Interfaith Build brings people together of different backgrounds and faiths to put aside differences, build homes, and celebrate inclusion and diversity within our community. Eight different congregations have come together on this Interfaith project to build a quality, affordable home for a local family in need - and there's still room for more!

"We got this van 10 years ago when my first son was born. It was such a blessing at the time. We just added our second child to the family. Since then we have added two more sons. We are a homeschool family and we have been able to use this van to go to our various homeschool trips and co-op days in Kentucky. I brought two of my kids home in this van and visited my sister in TX and parents in PA and OH in this van. I have been able to use it for ministry. I have taken many kids home and had girl pow-wows in the van on cold winter nights drinking shakes. This van is definitely loved on by our family and we are so happy it will bless someone else soon." - Adam & Michelle, Cars for Homes donors.
