Evidence shows that when the importance of healthy eating is learned in childhood, children are much more likely to have improved health outcomes in adulthood.

This fall, we're thrilled to teach 24 classes and over 385 students in six counties across the Bay Area.

It's thanks to YOU, our loyal supporters and generous donors, that our popularity is increasing and we're able to teach growing numbers of children and teens about the critical importance of good nutrition. We're all so grateful you stand behind us. THANK YOU!

Warm wishes,

Lara Rajninger,
Executive Director.
We Can Help YOUR Organization Teach Cooking
Healthy eating habits in childhood are not only linked to better health outcomes but are also increasingly linked to improved academic performance too.

Through our Together We Cook (TWC) classes in San Francisco, San Mateo and Sonoma County, we can help set up your organization to offer FUN healthy cooking classes to children and teens.

We will train your staff, arrange paid grocery deliveries or pick up and share our recipes and curriculum built on progressive skills and competency. In turn, you can provide lifelong healthy cooking skills to children, many of whom may never otherwise aquire this knowledge. Please contact us using the button below for more details.
Summer Success
In June and July we partnered with Aim High, and successfully launched a new cooking program, Farm to Fork, held in the new demonstration kitchen at College of Marin, Indian Valley Campus, in Novato. This campus has an extensive organic farm garden enabling students to experience the entire farm to table experience. College of Marin garden instructors were also on hand to assist our teachers.

Kids enjoyed harvesting the produce, chopping and mixing before cooking up a feast, whilst learning about seasonal produce, assessing ripeness, and creating a fresh meal from scratch. It's an invaluable, immersive way to learn where our food comes from.

Healthy Corner Store Revolution
We’re incredibly excited to partner with The Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corporation (TNDC) this fall. TNDC provides affordable housing, wellness and healthy aging education with an emphasis on urban agriculture as well as after school programs to the Bayview and Tenderloin community in San Francisco.

We will be teaching in one of their affordable housing buildings in the Tenderloin district. Around the corner, there is a grocery store which is a part of the Healthy Corner Store Coalition. The coalition supports access and availability to fresh, healthy food and encourages convenience stores to stock fresh fruits, vegetables and more nutritious foods. Ingredients for the KCL class will be purchased specifically from that corner store, demonstrating to our students that it’s possible to cook a healthy meal without having to drive or walk far to get good ingredients.

At the end of each class, we will distribute meal kits (also purchased from the corner store) so that the students can take home the ingredients and recreate the meal to feed the whole family. The estimated cost is $20 per student or $300 per class for the 8-week session. Any donation from $20 - $2,400 will help to cover the costs of this particular program.

We’re also thrilled to help support this neighborhood store financially, and hope that this project encourages an increase in healthier food in corner stores across the city and beyond! Please consider donating.
Honored to be Grant Recipients
We’re incredibly honored to have won a $40,000 grant from Measure HH and the City of Oakland, 'Reducing Consumption of Sugar-Sweetened Beverages Community Grants' Program. The City of Oakland wants to protect its citizens by displaying resistance to "big soda" and we’re thrilled to be helping to shape better health outcomes for Oakland's at-risk kids and teens.

While $40,000 is generous, it’s still not enough to reach the many kids out there whose health is threatened by overly sugared beverages. Please consider helping to support us in this critical task. THANK YOU.
Bruschetta and Caprese Salad
It's the season for fresh, sweet tomatoes, and they taste even better with fresh basil.

This classic Italian recipe brings both ingredients to their full glory, with mozzarella and olive oil. A quick, easy and 1000% delicious snack or impressive starter.
