SEMINARS HAVE BEGUN!
Students had the opportunity to sign up for the following seminars for term 1:

The Making of Milwaukee: Sitting just off the coast of Lake Michigan in Wisconsin you will find the vibrant and diverse city of Milwaukee, also known as Cream City and The Good Land. The city, founded on Indigenous land, is home to 588,000 Milwaukeeans, who come from all corners of the world. As we look at the story of Milwaukee we will look at the city as a microcosm of United States history. We will look at changes the city has seen, successes the city has had, and people who make it so unique.

Paranormal Activity: For many, paranormal activity may seem like just the stuff of horror movies and teen novels. However, both today and historically, cultures around the world have been influenced by beliefs and stories about unnatural phenomena. In this seminar, we will look at different cultures’ stories, as well as explore further how paranormal activity plays a role in our own culture.

Food/Gut/Brain Connection: Researching new neuroconnections between the brain and the gut. After conducting experiments and researching specific questions about gut health, students will compose a scientific lab report and personalized guide for their families, including what they learned and how their findings will help. Students will also explore the microbial world to explore how microbes play a role in our everyday life.

Decoding the Details: In this seminar we will look to improve your troubleshooting, awareness, creativity and reasoning skills through an escape room style adventure. Escape rooms allow us to practice life skills while also having some fun. In addition we will explore topics such as discrete mathematics, forensic science, pattern recognition, computer science, code breaking, and escape room puzzles.

Introduction to Global Leadership: All freshmen are engaging in introductory leadership development and design thinking.

Post-Secondary Planning for Seniors: Planning for life after high school can be a very exciting and daunting task. During this seminar, seniors will have the opportunity to explore, plan, and apply for post-secondary opportunities based on individual student goals. In addition, we will explore financial literacy to help you prepare for your financial future.
