Nevins News

What a busy month June is for everyone, Nevins staff included.  There are graduations, weddings, baseball games, all those outdoor events that we've been craving since November.  Here in thelibrary we have a special display planned to commemorate the loss of many of Methuen's Civil War soldiers at the Battle of Spotsylvania.  This display is a joint venture between the library and the Historical Commission.  In addition we will be holding several author events and the children's department is gearing up for the annual Summer Reading program slated to start when school ends in June.  We also look forward to a new tradition of starting the summer with a Celebration of Reading, a great time to get together and discuss books we've enjoyed.  We think it's a great way to learn of some new authors and titles before the vacation season starts....time to figure out your 2014 Beach Reads!!

Stop by and say Hi!!

June Database Showcase - Mango Languages
Summer is a great time to do some traveling and what better way to really become immersed in the culture of a new country than to speak the language with the residents of that land.  The Nevins Library has just the thing to help you learn that new language by using the Mango Languages database available through the Nevins Library website.  Mango languages is a program that is comparable to Rosetta stone and its interface is very user friendly.  There are over 72 languages to learn, and many of these are English as a second language modules.  For those heading to the Caribbean, you might want to check out their Pirate language course....and you'll be ready for Talk like a Pirate Day, September 19, 2015.
