A few weeks ago, one of our children designed and built an "escape room". For those of you who are not familiar with an "escape room", an escape room is a real-life adventure game where you and your team “escape” from a themed room by finding hidden clues and solving challenging puzzles throughout the room - or in our case "rooms". A few nights ago, our child's friend and I were brought to this semi-lit room, and given the task to "escape". Right after we started, the lights "went out" and we had to find our way in the dark - with the glow sticks we subsequently found. If we got stuck, we were supposed to radio for help. We had to figure out several clues in order to unlock a padlock. After getting the padlock undone, we found ourselves having to crawl to another room and another set of puzzles to unlock yet another door. Along the way there were also several "clues" to throw us off track. There were a series of rooms and a series of various puzzles but we finally made our way out.
In our real lives, we have many opportunities and many choices. As believers in Jesus Christ, we are also told that we will face various temptations in life... situations even where we need to "escape". How great it is to know that we have the correct guidebook, the Bible, to help us through these challenges. 1 Corinthians 10:13 tells us, "No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it."
