January 20th, 2025 Newsletter

Our Newsletter has a New Name!

We have completed our two month journey to rename our newsletter. After a one month-long vote, we are excited to annouce that going forward, our newsletter will now be named the "The FunTeam Times." Thank you to all that participated in the contest and with our next issue, you will see a new look newsletter to go along with the new name.

Congratulations to Cathren Dorchester for submitting the winning name. We had over 50 entries (with a few of you thinking along the same lines!) submitted before it was narrowed down to our final 5 selections. She was won a $100 Gift Card.

December Volunteer of the Month

Congratulations to CJ Nowicki!

CJ is a coach for the Middle Team in Rich Valley. CJ started his coaching journey after his daughter told him she wanted to start playing hockey. He's now been a coach for 5 seasons!

Thank you to CJ for being a role model for the young athletes in her community and a strong ambassador for FunTeam Alberta! Thank you to Lindsay for the nomination. We love hearing about the difference volunteers are making in their community!

REMINDER: All registered volunteers are eligible to receive Volunteer of the Month recognition. Click the button below to nominate someone in your community today!

What are the FunTeam FUN-damentals?

Back in 2023, we created THREE guiding documents so FunTeam families can fully understand the who, what, where, when and why that goes into starting and successfully maintaining a FunTeam group. These documents provide a clear outline on how to operate a FunTeam group while keeping the program's focus on Affordable, Inclusive and Family Oriented FUN! The three documents are broken down into the following:

Part 1 - Roles and Responsibilities

Part 2 - Group Operations

Part 3 - Gameplay Essentials

If there is any interest implementing the FUN-damentals in your community, please contact the FunTeam office at info@funteamalberta.com.

FunTeam Coach's Workbook

Learn how to create a fun and inclusive environment for your FunTeam sessions by working through the Coach's Workbook. This tool will provide in-depth and critical thinking to how parents can create safe sporting environments that allow FunTeam athlete's to develop physically, socially and emotionally.

The FunTeam Alberta office can also provide hard copies for interested volunteers. Contact Ryan at info@funteamalberta.com to get your copy.

FunTeam Around Alberta

The Stettler Steelers Jr. FunTeam Hockey team had the opportunity to skate with the Stettler Imperials Senior Hockey Club. Great to see mentors in the community working with the FunTeam-ers on developing their hockey skills!
