June 6, 2023

Greetings from Westervelt Hall!

Hello Families!

As the 2022-2023 school year comes to an end, I want to express my sincere gratitude to all of you for supporting your children’s education, advocating for them, and showing an interest in the growth at RSD! The home-school connection is truly at the heart of the most successful students and their learning experiences. Our families are a strong force… you ask questions and you share in the staff’s commitment to provide quality education for all Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing students! The transformative education and community we envision takes time to build and nurture.

On behalf of all of the RSD staff, we are incredibly proud of all of our students and their individual accomplishments this year! We have seen them grow in their academic and social-emotional learning, and they are proof that Deaf students thrive!!!

Please join me in celebrating your child’s successes this year by attending their Awards Ceremony this month. Watch for details about the events, and as always, please contact the Main Office for any questions. I look forward to seeing you there, as we honor each student.

With kind regards,

Susan

Thank You Campaign

The 4201 Schools Association is pleased that Governor Hochul and representatives of our State Legislature have included critical funding for our schools in this year's budget. Our elected officials continue to see the importance of providing investments to help meet the needs of blind, deaf, and physically disabled students served by New York’s 4201 Schools.

The FY 2024 State Budget will restore and increase essential funding for our schools, which will help to ensure that our children are provided the same learning environment, opportunities, and experience as every other child in New York State. Elected leaders in the Senate and Assembly showed up for our schools in a big way this year. We are incredibly grateful for their commitment to our students and teachers, and for taking every opportunity to express their support for us throughout this year’s budget process. Their continued support is needed now, and in the years to come.

To express our gratitude for their advocacy and partnership, please participate in our THANK YOU campaign by providing your information below. This information will help us thank your local legislators, as well as the Governor, for their support.
