Mask Status: Optional
August 19-25, 2022
Masks are optional for students, staff, and visitors at MPS schools and sites from August 19-25, 2022.
As of August 18, 2022, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has ranked Milwaukee County in the Medium category for COVID-19 transmission. As a result, the district mask policy has changed from mandatory to optional. CDC data is updated every Thursday and will be reviewed by the district each week.
The district will continue to require masks to be worn at all schools, sites, and activities when the COVID-19 level in Milwaukee County is rated in the High category as determined by the CDC.
MPS will send communications to families, staff, and the community any time the mask policy changes. MPS will make determinations every Thursday, with mask requirements being updated for the following school day and subsequent week.
For more information, read about the revised MPS mask policy.
