November 2024

Dear HCP4,

Every November, we come together and celebrate what we are thankful for.

This month, and every month, I am thankful for the opportunity to be your commissioner. Serving you and your families is the honor of my life, and my team and I are committed to delivering progress with excellence.

Throughout November, we are hosting Thanksgiving luncheons, potlucks, craft activities, and more at our community centers. Whether you need activities for your children, want to connect with your neighbors, or let someone else do the cooking for a change, we invite you to visit your local Precinct 4 community center and take part in any of our exciting programming.

We are continuing our work to create greener and more beautiful communities throughout Precinct 4. For instance, we have invested $2 million in federal funds to create a linear forest in Alief, one of Houston’s warmest neighborhoods, to increase shade, decrease temperatures, and improve health. I am excited to announce that we have begun planting 1,200 trees along nearly 8 miles of roads in Alief.

We are also hosting several tree plantings and parks workshops. The Precinct 4 team hosted the first workshop for the Healthy Parks Plan on Saturday, November 2nd. If you were unable to attend, you can still shape the vision for all 55 of our Precinct 4 parks by taking this survey.

Families can also visit Freed Park on Saturday, November 16th from 10 a.m. to noon to help us plant new trees throughout the park.

We are also embracing the season with our annual, free Fall Festival on November 9  from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Bear Creek Park. We will have a pumpkin patch, live music, a petting zoo, a tree giveaway, and more for the whole family. I hope to see you there!

Lastly, with Election Day tomorrow, I urge you to vote. No matter who you vote for, your vote will impact your future and that of our community. Do your part to give back this Thanksgiving season and shape the future you want for your family and our county and country.

All my best,
