One of the things I love about Mills is the strong sense of Community we have. Over the past few years, the PTO has struggled to keep traditions alive and hit our Annual Fund goal.

This year, we want to try something different and we hope you’ll join us. In the spirit of the season, we’re be celebrating one another through food, togetherness, and culture.

Bring a dish to share (something from your country/state of origin, something that feels like “home,” which could be a dish originating from Millbrae, or one as far off as Hong Kong.

The Dragon Team, the Latina Mentor Program Folklorico dancers, a string quartet, and Mills choir participants will grace us with entertainment for the evening.

We’ll also have random, fun giveaways!

We hope to see many of you there!

Counselor's Connection

Freshman 4-Year Plans

This week, school counselors will help all freshmen create a 4-year graduation plan with the courses they plan to take in high school. 9th grade parents are encouraged to review their student's 4-year plan together. (And don't worry -- these plans are just a draft!) In February/March, freshmen will meet with their counselors to select 10th grade courses.

Last-minute call for healthcare workers

This Wednesday, School Counselors Ms. Tijero and Mr. Fong will host a panel of healthcare workers for the College & Career Success class that they teach. If you are open to volunteering an hour to answer students' questions about your occupation, please contact Ms. Tijero by Tuesday 11/5. Panelists will take part in an hour-long Q&A panel on Nov. 6th some time between 4:15 and 6pm.

Host Families Needed

In December, SKYUS will accommodate 10 Japanese high school students from the Fukuoka Board of Education, and they are looking for host families for them.

They will arrive in San Francisco on November 30, spend the day sightseeing in the city, and stay overnight at a hotel in San Francisco. On the morning of December 1, they will check out of the hotel, arrive at Mills High School, and then move to their host families’ homes to spend time with them. On the morning of Saturday, December 7, they will check out from their homestays and head to CSU East Bay Campus. The activities at Mills High School will include a full-day exchange on Wednesday and a farewell party after school on Friday.

For more details on the schedule and requests for host families, please refer to this flyer. If you are able to host, please submit the form below.

COMMUNITY CORNER

Call for Student Art!

The San Mateo County Office of Education is proud to present a series of digital arts showcases that highlight the incredible talent and creativity of TK-12th grade students across our county.

These showcases will feature student work in all five art forms: dance, theater, music, visual arts, and media arts.

This project aims to celebrate and uplift student voices, foster artistic expression, and provide a platform where students can share their work with the broader community.
