New Year, Same Dedication!

Hello Knightdale! Happy New Year! 2023 has started off so great, and I hope it has for you, too. We have so much in store for our beloved town, and it's all rooted in providing citizen-centered service to everyone in our community!

I'm so excited about the many positive things going on around town, and I wanted to share just a few things going on with our citizens and community.

Thales Academy Kicks off the December

Council Meeting

The Council and I were honored to have Safety Patrol students from Thales Academy Knightdale lead the Pledge of Allegiance at our last Town Council meting. The Safety Patrol is made up of a team of dedicated, honest, and respectful fifth grade students.

The duty of each Safety Patrol member is to set a good example for others and help students stay safe by monitoring the hallways, walking kindergarten students to carpool, and cleaning the playground each day. Students in this program shoulder responsibilities that will strengthen their character and provide an opportunity to help develop their leadership skills.

We are grateful for the leadership of these students and look forward to hearing more amazing things about their achievements this year!

Town Council Recognizes the

Knightdale Dragons

The Town also recognized our youth football STATE CHAMPIONS, the Knightdale Dragons. The team competed in the 2022 Pop Warner National Championship in Orlando and made it to the quarter-finals! I am so proud and appreciative of the efforts made to help our youth in Knightdale with their journey to the championship.

This kind of teamwork and dedication is a great representation of our town. Just 24 hours after WRAL News shared the Dragon’s story, the team received over $24,000 in donations! The hard work from the team and coaches with the help of the community is incredible. CONGRATULATIONS, DRAGONS!

Kim Kenny Named Town of Knightdale Employee of the Year

I am pleased to recognize Kim Kenny as our 2022 Employee of the Year! This annual award is determined by the Town Manager, and it is Knightdale’s highest service recognition given to an employee. Recipients of the award have demonstrated exceptional performance over the previous calendar year. The employee’s service is commendable and deemed essential to the overall success of the Town.

Over the previous year, Mrs. Kenny completed Fiscal Year (FY) 2022-23 Budget and managed annual audit while transitioning between Finance Directors; managed the new funding source and complex rules of the American Rescue Plan (ARPA) and ensured all reporting and compliance requirements were met; and designed financing solution and secured the loan for Fire Station #4 (Hodge Road).

For these accomplishments and her consistently faithful service, Kim is a very deserving recipient of the Employee of the Year Award. Thank you for all you do for Knightdale!
