Thank you to all who showed up last Thursday for our 3rd consecutive monthly Job Fair here at the Chamber. And, what a robust day it was for our vendors looking to hire and job seekers looking for work. To date we’ve matched over 50+ employers with new employees and we’re not done yet. One more to go and if we continue to see the need we’ll extend this service. The Chamber is committed to helping restart the local business community and this is one way we’re helping.
We then kept the momentum of the day going by hosting our annual Open House featuring awardees of our Rising Stars scholarships being recognized by our Mayor and three of the four City Council members who came to recognize the special students. I want to thank Mayor Paul McNamara, Councilmember/Mayor Pro-Tem Mike Marasco, and Councilmembers Tina Inscoe and Joe Garcia. Your presence and recognition made this a very special moment for the Rising Stars and their families.
But, that’s not all. We also took advantage of the gathering to have the Mayor swear in the new members of our Board of Directors. We’re proud to add the following new Board members to our distinguished list for 2021-2022: Laura Hillebrecht, Ted Owen, Tony Criss, Alex Nunez, Roxanne Rostamian, Sam Nawrocki, Julie Kangas, and Kay Bates.
This group will join the existing Board members and serve their 3-year term. This is quite an honor to be chosen and comes with the responsibility to contribute to the overall success of your Chamber. I can’t thank the full Board enough for their help, support and time. These local leaders give of their time and expertise freely and are the backbone of the Chamber. We’re also pleased to announce that Don Romo has agreed to extend his tour of duty as Board Chair for another year. This is all great news and positions your Chamber to continue our mission of serving the business community at the highest level.
The Chamber halls were rocking with a great gathering of supporters and the momentum was palatable. Thank you to all who attended.

Ok, to sum it up there’s a lot going on here at the Greater Escondido Chamber of Commerce and you should be a part of it. There’s nothing like building something new that invigorates us all. We’re fortunate to have had such a solid foundation to build on. Our heritage has served us well and it’s now our time to take up it up a notch.
