THIS WEEK

The St. Thomas Team is on the way to Honduras tomorrow!

The St. Thomas World Mission Team is leaving for Honduras tomorrow, Friday, June 2nd, to work and support the Sloan Clinic, our medical mission, and our village school near Puerto Cortes. This past Sunday, during our Pentecost Holy Eucharist on Green Mountain, Fr. Donavan offered a special prayer and blessing for our team and our team leaders, Bob Harwell, Brett Tomlin, and Dcn. Jeannie Randall, who left this past Monday to get things in order for the rest of the teams arrival tomorrow. This Sunday, we will be praying for each member of our World Mission Team and looking forward to their return on Friday, June 9th, to share with us their report on our important mission work in Honduras. Please join Fr. Donavan in praying for each member of the team each day of the week they are away. Our 2023 Honduras World Mission Team is: Tim Davis, Gail Dodson, Elizabeth Duling, Jake Greer, John Hanson, Linda Hanson, George Harriman, Bob Harwell, Mtr. Ranie Neislar, Dcn. Jeannie Randall, and Brett Tomlin.

Youth Movie Afternoon! THIS SUNDAY!

From our Youth Activity Coordinator, Noah Bowan:

Hello All! This week we’ll be having a little movie night going on Sunday June 4th at 3:30 pm! The plan will be to go to the church service at 5 pm after. If your child doesn’t plan to attend, pickup is at 4:55 pm otherwise they need to be picked up no later than 6:30 pm after dinner.   Parents, please drop your youth off in the south parking lot. The youth door is next to the covered patio.  Thank you and can’t wait to see y’all soon!

Dinner & Music returns this Sunday Evening to the 5pm "Come as you are" Holy Eucharist

After a quiet, laid back Pentecost Sunday worship service at 5pm this past weekend, you can join Fr. Donavan on Trinity Sunday, June 4th, for the return of the full 5pm Sunday evening set up! We will again have music during worship, followed by a simple dinner for everyone immediately following in the Parish Hall!

Recycling is currently CARDBOARD only

Our recycling dumpster is now only available for cardboard. No paper, plastic bottles, etc. are allowed. There is a penalty fee that will be charged if ANYTHING is put in that dumpster that is not cardboard. At this time, please only place broken down cardboard boxes into the recycling dumpster. Thank you!

UPCOMING

SAVE THE DATE: Golden Girls & Boys Luncheon on June 10th!

Our Parish is excited to honor our eighty and ninety-somethings on Saturday, June 10 at 11:30 with a luncheon in the Parish Hall.  If you or your spouse are 80 or over, you are the honoree: no cooking or baking or salad-making. You are our guests! We will have ham and side salads, cake, and lots of conversation with lots of people we haven’t seen in ages.

Remember, this is a parish-wide party; those of us who can’t claim Golden status yet are encouraged and invited to attend. (The only difference is that we do the salad-making to share with the honorees: green salads, potato salads, fruit salads, deviled eggs, dips and spreads, nuts and olives, cheese and crackers. All are welcome.) If you can't attend but would like to honor these cherished members of our church, feel free to make a salad and drop it off in the Parish Hall!

Summer Adult Christian Formation: RADICAL WELCOME BOOK STUDY

Join us on Sundays this June for the new Summer Adult Formation Book Study in Conference Room I, as we dive into a book that promises to take us on a "step by step journey of discovery into what radical welcome is and how it can work," Radical Welcome by Stephanie Spellers. "Stephanie offers us a blueprint for planned growth, change, and mission." Now, it is as important as ever for us here at St. Thomas to understand our unique identity in South Huntsville and how we are poised to engage with our growing neighborhood. You can purchase the book through the church for $20 on Amazon (please purchase the 15th Anniversary Revised Edition). If you have any questions email Ranie at HERE.

Upcoming Monthly Group Meetings

  • St. Thomas Book Club: On June 12th we will discuss The Three Mothers by Anna Malike Tubbs. This is about the mothers of Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, and James Baldwin. We are glad to welcome new members even if you haven't read the book. Some of us go to lunch afterward. For more information, please call Elouisa Stokes at 256-604-8669.
