The Springfield Back to School Bash

Springfield parents will be able to cross a lot of items off their back-to-school "to do" list at a free event later this month. Preparations are under way for Springfield Public Schools' Back To School Bash. The event — part carnival, resource fair and giveaway — is free to any district family. It is from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 30, at the Springfield Expo Center, 635 E. St, Louis St.

Urban League Back to School Fair

The Urban League (ULSTL) in conjunction with the St. Louis Public Schools (SLPS) hosts the Urban Expo Back to School & Community Empowerment Festival every summer that over 27,000 residents of the metropolitan area attend at America's Center in Downtown St. Louis. The Expo offers book bags, shoes and school supplies to youth and SLPS officials assist with transportation, enrollment, and other school related questions and concerns.

Warrensburg Back to School Brigade

Welcome to the Back-to-School Brigade! On July 20th from 4:00-5:30 PM Operation Homefront is honored to be able to provide school supplies to our military families and help in any way that we can. Supplies are limited and are in the first-come, first-served registration process. Please note that this event is for DEERS to enroll military-dependent children only who will be in Kindergarten through 12th grade for the 2022 - 2023 school year.

Columbia Rock the Community

Join Rock The Community on July 23rd from 2-7 PM for a back-to-school event. Rock the Community is a 501c3 organization based in Columbia geared towards youth development and community wellness. 

Moberly Smart Start Back to School Fair

Need some help getting school supplies for your children? Pick up an application from the church office (Family Life Fellowship, 1614 U.S. 24, Moberly, MO, 65270) from July 5-26. Applications are due back no later than July 26.

Lebanon Back to School Fair

We know that the school year just ended, but we have to plan ahead. We want all students to be fully prepared for an awesome, successful school year. We hope to provide the following: School Supplies, Hygiene items, Haircuts, Vision Screening, and more! The day of the event is Saturday, August 6, 2022, from 9 am - 2 pm CDT. This event will help prepare students in West Plains and the five surrounding school districts for school. The Drive-thru event is August 13, 2022 from 9 AM to 11 AM

Columbia Back to School Health Fair

The Back to School Health Fair will be held Saturday, August 6, 2022 from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm at Derby Ridge Elementary, 4000 Derby Ridge Drive, Columbia, MO 65202

Back to School Sales Tax Holiday

By state law, the sales tax holiday begins on the first Friday in August and continues through the following Sunday. Certain back-to-school purchases, such as clothing, school supplies, computers, and other items as defined by the statute, are exempt from sales tax for this time period only. In 2022, the Sales Tax Holiday begins at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, August 5, and runs through Sunday, August 7.

The Governor’s Council on Disability is accepting entries for the annual GCD Disability Employment Awareness Month Poster Contest now through August 15. Don’t delay – start submitting your posters now. The Governor’s Council on Disability’s (GCD) annual poster contest raises awareness about the importance of employment for people with disabilities. National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) is observed each year in October to celebrate the contributions of workers with disabilities and educate about the value of a workforce inclusive of their skills and talents. The posters are intended to spark a conversation about employment of people with disabilities and raise awareness about the importance of inclusion in the workplace. The winning entry will be featured on this year’s Disability Employment Awareness Month poster, GCD’s website and social media.

The content for the 2022 MCEC Global Summit theme, The Journey of the Military Child, will build on a whole child and holistic approach to military-connected youth. Emphasis will focus on supporting and nurturing all areas of development and learning while incorporating a broader view of the skills and knowledge military-connected children need for long-term success.
