Ride İnto Fall With Fay's Boat Yard
Summer may be over

Taking Off with the Rocket Board

Back in the late 1950s, our dad bought a Sunfish for the family. Made by Alcort, this surfboard-with-a-sail could be tossed into the back of the family station wagon for the short drive to a nearby lake. Unload on the beach, stick in the mast, raise the lateen sail, drop in the daggerboard, hook up the tiller… and that’s how we learned to sail! Fast forward seventy-odd years, and what’s old is new again with Fulcrum Speedworks’ exciting new entry into the popular board boat category: the Rocket Board Boat.

Tackle the Tackle Box Before Winter

Nobody likes to do unpleasant things, and one of those is going through your well-used tackle box in the fall and performing that end-of-season clean-up and consolidation. It’s unpleasant because it means summer is over, most of the fishing for the year is in the books, and that’s always a sad thing to contemplate. But going through the tackle box at the end of the year is important to keep your gear in top form, so when the weather warms up again next year, you’ll be ready to go.

The Importance of Regular Maintenance

Just like your car, boats need regular maintenance. Most of us have the oil and filter changes, gear lubes, impellers and proper winterizations down pat. But what about the belts, gimble bearings, seals, sparkplugs, throttle control, and such? Most of these items can cost you money as well as time out on the water.
