In a Few Short Days

... Streets Alive! will be here. Scheduled for Sunday, September 25th from 1:00 - 4:30 PM, our free annual movement festival is back outdoors, taking health, wellness, fitness, tasty food, music, art, dance, and fun for all ages into the streets! Hosted by the University Place neighborhood, the 1.7 mile traffic-free festival route includes a park area, walking trails, and playgrounds. Download an event brochure.
What You'll Find at Streets Alive!
Everybody's Welcome
Neighbors from the area and neighbors from across the city come together at Streets Alive! The festival is a family, kid, pet, and wheelchair friendly event to get you up off the couch and moving. You can walk, run, bike, skate, push a stroller, or propel a wheelchair through the 1.7 mile traffic-free festival route interspersed with exhibitors, entertainers, and join-in activities. You can enter or exit the route at any point.
Sports and Fitness
Get your fit on at Streets Alive! Get active with yoga led by Wild Root Yoga or a YMCA Pound class. Sharpen your skills with a soccer clinic led by the Nebraska Wesleyan soccer team and learn some martial arts moves with Swanson Martial Arts.

Then check out mountain biking with Lincoln DEVO, rollerskating with No Coast Junior Derby, sword fighting techniques from the Lincoln Sword Fighting Guild, and skateboarding with Precision Skateboard .
Fresh Produce, Food Trucks

You find free tasty produce from Lincoln Fresh, locally grown and farm fresh.
The Corner Kitchen offers flavorful Afghani/Mediterranean cuisine.
UNL Dairy Store brings their luscious homemade ice cream.
And, treat yourself to fresh popped kettle corn, from Farmer's Market Kettle Corn.
Support and Health Resources

Over 100 exhibitors will be on hand to provide free health, wellness and support information, education, and resources.

Home Town Favorites Haircare and Fisher's Beauty & Barber will also provide free haircuts.

Music
What's Street's Alive without tunes? Dance along with Jonathon Leach and Black Ophanim, with their special blend of Latino jazz and Cool Poppas offering R & B and soul music.

Kids can sing along with Jim King, Beau Bullock entertains with Sidewalk Hymns, students from Blue Raven Music Studio show off their talents, and Nicolas Li brings classical to Streets Alive! Dance in the streets to the Lincoln Ukulele Group on the route with music from all genres.


Dance

Enjoy the talents of the CK Dance Academy dancers.

Step lively with the step chains from Lincoln Southeast High and Dawes Middle School.

Learn how music and dance is therapy from Our Dream Achievers

And see how dance is for everyone with the Dancing Beyond Limits - An Adaptive Dance Organization.

Kids Activities, Raffle
Kids can join in sing-a-longs with guitarist Jim King, check out books on the Bookmobile, get kicking at the NWU soccer clinic, learn some martial arts moves, or chill out with kids' yoga. And what kid doesn't love climbing on a fire truck. Many exhibitors also offer fun activities for kids.

Kids who complete the Kids Fitness Challenge between 1 - 3PM can be entered into a raffle to win a free bike. Winners announced at 3:15 PM - must be present to win.

The Arts
Enjoy art displays from the Lux Center for the Arts. Then get creative with draw-along 3-D chalk art sponsored by Children's Hospital, painting water colors with Southern Height Food Forrest, and do-it-yourself t-shirt art with Collective Impact.
