Today's Scripture Reflection

Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.
Ephesians 4:32

Growing up, I was taught the importance of being kind, loving, and forgiving others. This has stuck with me over the years and has helped me become the person I am today. In the work I do now, I am able to pass on those skills to the children that I work with on a daily and weekly basis.

There is an old benediction (blessing) that you have may have heard in church. It was written by a French priest named Henri Frederic Amiel. It goes like this:

Life is short,
And we do not have much time
to gladden the hearts of those who
make the journey with us.
So… be swift to love,
and make haste to be kind.

God shows us His kindness by leading us through life. Each step you take is part of your journey, and each step is a chance to show love and kindness to those who surround you, no matter how long you are there.

There might be turns that make us ask God, “Is this really what you have led me to do?” or “Are you sure?” Yet God always has a plan for us, even when we don't see it, or find the journey difficult. The questions that we ask God help us think about where we are going and what our hearts truly want. Looking back on difficulty, there might have been some positive moments or learning experiences that you take away and can use in the future.

Even if we go off the path, God will always find a way to guide us back to the right road. When we detour, He will forgive us, showing love and kindness to guide us in the right direction.

Love, kindness, and forgiveness can be challenging at times, but they truly make us better people. And though we may not notice, God is always leading us in His infinite love and care.

God bless you!

Let Us Pray
Book of Common Prayer, p832
O God, by whom the meek are guided in judgment, and
light riseth up in darkness for the godly: Grant us, in all
our doubts and uncertainties, the grace to ask what thou
wouldest have us to do, that the Spirit of wisdom may save
us from all false choices, and that in thy light we may see
light, and in thy straight path may not stumble; through
Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
