New Resource and Webinar Recording!

Our How to Build Capacity to Attract Funding for Smaller Kinship and Peer-Led Organizations toolkit includes lessons learned from a learning community of the leaders of four organizations. Two of the leaders are kin caregivers and one is an individual who was raised by her kin. These leaders received training, individualized support, and group coaching from Tiffany Allen to increase the internal capacity of their organizations so that they could gain funding and better track their outcomes. We held a webinar on the same topic last week, and a recording of that event is available here.

Accepting Requests for Assistance

As always, the Network is accepting individual requests for assistance from professionals who work in systems or organizations that serve kinship/grandfamilies. Fill out the request assistance form to receive support from our team. Learn more and sign up four our monthly newsletter!

The Network is supported by the Administration for Community Living (ACL), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as part of a financial assistance award totaling $9,950,000 with 95 percentage funded by ACL/HHS and $523,684 and 5 percentage funded by non-government sources. The contents are those of the authors and do not necessarily represent the official views of, nor an endorsement, by ACL/HHS, or the U.S. Government.

Intergenerational Spotlight

SAGEServes

SAGE is the world’s largest organization dedicated to advocacy, services, and innovations for LGBTQ+ elders. SAGEServes, a division of SAGE, creates opportunities to serve the LGBTQ+ community’s older people and support their unique needs. It offers direct services at five SAGE Centers and care management programs in New York City, programs that support LGBTQ+ elders across New York State, and programs designed for LGBTQ+ elders in Southern Florida. Over the past few years at the Center in the Bronx, young people served as paid interns who helped older adults with technology, served meals, and planned events such as Intergenerational Mini-balls, fashion shows, and karaoke programs. Learn more about SAGEServes here.

Each issue, Generations United is spotlighting a recipient of our Intergenerational Program Certification or a program highlighted in our Shared Site Learning Network newsletter. The certification is an annual recognition of outstanding programs bringing older and younger participants together and is based on rigorous standards of program effectiveness and sustainability. Learn more about the Intergenerational Program Certification here.

"Know Your Rights" Resources Available for Partners and Community Organizations

All people in the United States, regardless of immigration status, have certain rights and protections under the U.S. Constitution. The ILRC’s Red Cards help people assert their rights and defend themselves in many situations, such as when ICE agents go to a home. Presentation materials from the National Immigrantion Project's Community Defender Training, “Understanding Your Rights and Protecting Your Community Under the New Administration,” can be accessed here.
