What's Happening at the Capitol? |
|

|
It was an eventful week at the Capitol. Our office had a few groups come visit us on the Hill, and I presented bills as they came up in Committee and on the Senate floor. During the week, I had bills debated in the State and Local Government, Judiciary, Commerce and Labor, and Education Committees. I also had a few bills on the floor, including "Noah's Law," which passed the Senate floor with no opposition. |

To start the week, the Internship Program hosted Intern Family Day on the Hill. The interns had the opportunity to show their families the offices in which they work and hear from many speakers. Carragan brought her parents and grandparents, so I had the chance to talk with them and show them the office. Her grandparents are constituents from Gallatin, and it was nice to discover our mutual friends in the community. |

2022 Tennessee Prayer Breakfast |

Tuesday morning, I attended the 2022 Tennessee Prayer Breakfast put on by the Citizens' Committee. There, we worshipped with Riley Clemmons leading the music, as well as Governor Lee and Chris Sanders coming to speak. There was a short, uplifting message along with a prayer over our Great State and all its residents. |

This week, members of the Tennessee Immigration and Refugee Rights Coalition came to our office to discuss specific legislation and it’s potential effects on their community. |
|
I also met a constituent that came to visit my office during Gun Owners of America Day on the Hill. It was great getting to have in-depth conversations about the 2nd amendment. |

I was able to visit with Volkswagon Executives while they visited our great state this week! They have a supplier in District 18, so it is important to stay informed on the company's mission, values, and workplace management practices. |

|
March of Dimes representatives also came to my office for their Day on the Hill on Wednesday. We discussed their legislative priorities, and it was encouraging to hear their story. I appreciate the work they are doing for families across our state. |

Cub Scouts at the Capitol! |
After session on Thursday, Hermitage's own Cub Scout Pack 240 came to the Capitol to learn a little about state government and work toward earning their Build a Better World Badge. I am glad to have been able to share with them my experience with the Scouts and how it has impacted my career. We also discussed issues facing our community and my role in the Senate. |

Education Funding Formula Meeting |
|
We have continued to meet regularly about the Governor's new funding formula for our Tennessee school systems. On Monday, both the Education Committee and the Finance, Ways, and Means Committee met for a Joint Committee meeting to discuss and ask questions concerning TISA. Our legislature is researching the Governor's plan, and we are going to continue to do so in the coming weeks because we understand the importance of our students' education. |
