The Queer Power of Prayer with Rev. Micah Bucey
7:00–8:00 p.m. Zoom link »
Meeting ID: 974 3938 3375 | Password: 676457

CBST is a proud sponsor of this program, hosted by Rev. Micah Bucey of Judson Memorial Church and the author of The Book of Tiny Prayer. We will explore the four main imperatives of prayer: Attention, Intention, Time, and Quiet. In a world so laden with distraction, apathy, productivity, and noise, how might these simple ingredients demystify our complicated histories with prayer and lead us into an embodied exploration of Søren Kierkegaard’s words: “The function of prayer is not to influence God, but rather to change the nature of the one who prays.”
Aging Together Singles
7:00–8:15 p.m.

Attend Shabbat Services In-Person
Join us each Friday evening and Saturday morning for our weekly Shabbat services. Please note that we have recently updated our COVID-19 policy and procedures. You can view the full communication here.

Under the guidance of our Medical Team, we are delighted to share that we have increased our capacity limits to 150 in the Wine Family Sanctuary for services and programs, and replaced most of the pews removed when we were operating at reduced capacity.

Pre-registration for Shabbat and Yom Tov services is now requested, not required. Pre-registration will remain available and is encouraged for ease of entry. If you are pre-registered, you don’t need to wait in line to show documentation and complete an attestation of your health, exposure and travel status. Your name will be checked off a list. Additionally, we now welcome walk ins. All you need to do is provide proof of vaccination (including a booster for all eligible) and complete an attestation in order to gain entrance to CBST. We have added QR codes at the door to speed entry of all those who do not preregister.

In an effort to welcome everyone in our community, we will maintain a section for distanced seating on both the main floor and the mezzanine of the sanctuary for all who, for any number of reasons, might wish to sit more physically distant from others.

Pre-Registration opens every Monday morning and can be accessed on our website at: https://cbst.org/Shabbat-Signup. Here you’ll also find updated registration and Shabbat procedures and protocol with which to familiarize yourself.

We look forward to welcoming you! Shabbat Shalom.

Town Hall—NextGen Taskforce
This past Monday, our Town Hall was dedicated to CBST's Next Generation Taskforce, led by board member Johanna Sanders and Nora Isacoff. The Taskforce has been deep in research and reflection considering the needs of younger members and how best to honor and shape CBST as it approaches its 50th year. In this special Town Hall, the Taskforce presented their findings from 91 interviews and from their analysis of peer institutions, and they shared some of the recommendations put forth in their report.

We encourage you to watch the recording of the Town Hall and read the CBST Next Generation Taskforce Report and the Appendix CBST Next Generation Proposed Survey as this Taskforce represents an important step in CBST's future. Please be in touch with aleinu@cbst.org if you would like to get involved in this initiative.

Voting Rights Now!
Wednesday, March 30, 7:00–8:00 p.m. | Learn More & Register »
CBST is a proud cosponsor of this program hosted by Congregation Rodeph Shalom. Many Americans are deeply pessimistic about the future of our democracy. The right to vote—one of our most fundamental civil liberties—is being challenged for many segments of our population, with the greatest impact on communities of color. This panel will share the history of voting rights, describe current litigation to protect that right and discuss the impact of redistricting. The panelists are all experts in their fields and will suggest ways that volunteers can help to protect voting rights for all.

Building Healthy Families
CBST is glad to share an important message from our friends at the Canavan Foundation and the Jewish Genetic Disease Consortium.

Are you planning to start or add to your family? Do you know someone who is? It's possible to unknowingly pass on a serious genetic disease to a child.

Five important things to know:

1️⃣ Carrier testing is recommended for everyone planning to have a child.
2️⃣ Anyone can be a carrier of a genetic disease.
3️⃣ Carrier screening should be done before pregnancy.
4️⃣ Screening can be done by your doctor, a genetic counselor, or through an at-home program.
5️⃣ Carrier couples can still build healthy families.
